EU politicians need to face reality, transatlanticism is dead. We need to be able to stand on our own.
The richest guy in the world now controls the US Treasury's payment system, no checks, no balances. It's insane.
> "What happened here was the gradual habituation of the people, little by little, to being governed by surprise; to receiving decisions deliberated in secret; to believing that the situation was so complicated that the government had to act on information which the people could not understand, or so dangerous that, even if the people could not understand it, it could not be released because of national security. And their sense of identification with Hitler, their trust in him, made it easier to widen this gap and reassured those who would otherwise have worried about it."
> "But the one great shocking occasion, when tens or hundreds or thousands will join with you, never comes. That’s the difficulty. If the last and worst act of the whole regime had come immediately after the first and smallest, thousands, yes, millions would have been sufficiently shocked—if, let us say, the gassing of the Jews in ’43 had come immediately after the ‘German Firm’ stickers on the windows of non-Jewish shops in ’33. Yes, it's a cool new technology and very useful for some things.
No, it's not a great fit for literally everything and by adding it to things where it doesn't actually add value, we're not only making products worse, we're also burning down our already dying planet for no reason.
Imagine you're an anarchist - you probably won't get the answer you're looking for on how to best organize a society from an American or a Chinese model.
The tricky part is that for a lot of topics, there is no objective truth. Us nerds tend to try to put things into neat answerable boxes, but a lot of things just really depend on the way you see the world.
