kandros··on Theranos.world
The cookie banner is safari was a nice touch
kandros··on ZuckOff is a free app that sees Meta glasses before they see you
there was a black mirror episode on something similar IIRC
kandros··on We replaced Redis with MySQL for inventory reservations and it scaled
simpler
kandros··on Ask HN: What you using local models for?
I use qmd for that on over 20 years of journaling and saved quotes, works great

https://github.com/tobi/qmd

kandros··on Ask HN: Did GitHub remove the stargazers list?
Stargazer = who starred a repo
kandros··on PGSimCity - How PostgreSQL Works
The logo shape of the platform is a very niche touch, kudos
kandros··on EU Fines Google $1.02B for Favoring Its Own Services
Nobody is forcing me to use Google search, regardless of all the browser and search engine selection clown show, so much wasted money and time for nonexisting problem
kandros··on EU Fines Google $1.02B for Favoring Its Own Services
yes, everybody lose here
kandros··on Show HN: How well do you use Claude Code?
If quality is the metric, nobody would use something like that, seems like a micromanagement tool
kandros··on Show HN: How well do you use Claude Code?
Feedback loop alone to validate hypothesis, even if you throw away all the code and decide to write by hand is a terrific value proposition.

I believe it’s only possible to truly appreciate that after doing it for a while with trial and error, without external opinions

kandros··on Show HN: I replaced a $120k bowling center system with $1,600 in ESP32s
That's the signal in the noise I open HN for, thanks for sharing!
kandros··on Show HN: IKEA Complexity Index
I have nightmares of these, I’ll gladly pay someone else to do it next time
kandros··on Open-source memory for coding agents, synced over SSH
Different implementation details have different way to rank or “forget” or supersede facts but that’s pretty much it
kandros··on In Emacs, Everything Looks Like a Service
One of the pivotal moments in my career has been when I used Emacs just enough to truly understand what "Emacs is an operating system" means, not just as a joke but as something I could believe in
kandros··on CursorBench 3.1
I like Composer a lot as a general-purpose workhorse, but putting it over gpt5.5 medium makes the whole graph lose trust to me, asme witg GLM so low
kandros··on The Xteink X4 E-Ink Reader
iPhone pro max, fits nicely even with a cover, i also have a x3 but slightly prefer the bigger screen of x4’s but portability on is the read deal

Just seeing it act as a trigger to read for me, especially when book cover as standby background

kandros··on The Xteink X4 E-Ink Reader
been using on the back of my phone for a few months, my most satisfying hardware purchase in a long time
kandros··on Show HN: Nub – A Bun-like all-in-one toolkit for Node.js
Love the idea, learning a lot of interesting things about node hooks by reading docs and some code
kandros··on TinyWind: A pixel pirate sailing game with real wind physics (380k+ kms sailed)
Even on mobile is very pleasing good job!
kandros··on Ask HN: Has anyone replaced Claude/GPT with a local model for daily coding?
I’d rather ask my butcher than Haiku for coding tasks
kandros··on Do agents.md files help coding agents?
The amount of cargo-culting around AI tooling and practices is so weird to me.

Why not just try and see? The fast feedback loop allow testing all kind of weird theories in a matter of 30m-1h during normal working sessions, most results are obvious

kandros··on Ask HN: Why is the HN crowd so anti-AI?
I believe is just an impression given “Anti somethings” people are usually more vocal and likely to comment on the topic
kandros··on A programming language made for agents
Major API changes in things like Svelte have shown that this is actually not as true as we expected it to be.

Simon Willison has an good post about it

kandros··on I Bought a “Junk” PSP From Japan
I’ve surely spent more time modding PSP than playing games. Zero regrets

I just wish I started getting into software earlier, at that time it felt something super hard for “A beautiful mind” people

kandros··on Local AI needs to be the norm
We need more tools like QMD that beautifully download and use local models under the hood

https://github.com/tobi/qmd

kandros··on Ratty – A terminal emulator with inline 3D graphics
Expect to see Orhun in here before clicking, not disappointed
kandros··on Cloudflare to cut about 20% of its workforce
300% accurate
kandros··on From Supabase to Clerk to Better Auth
Does Better Auth still have the weird design to be everything “request header based”? I remember running admin scripts and tests to be very hacky due to it cause if you skipped that plugins wouldn’t run
kandros··on Bun is being ported from Zig to Rust
Unexpected, I was waiting for them to maintain a zig fork
kandros··on Removable batteries in smartphones will be mandatory in the EU starting in 2027
Absolutely trash aftermarket batteries that are e-waste in 6 months here we come!
