kek··on How Amazon’s ambitious new push for same-day delivery will destroy local retail
It has to do with journalistic ethics. By disclosing this now, they avoid a bad reputation when someone "discovers" that they participate in the affiliate program.

On it — forgot to scale up Heroku workers before posting!

kek··on Can three minutes of exercise a week help make you fit?
This is a great article for people who are unfamiliar with weight training, including 2 plans to get started: http://www.greatist.com/fitness/weight-training-for-beginner...

No need to give up cardio completely, just swap it for a few strength training days.

kek··on Pinterest is not a Virtual Pinboard
It's about 80/20. (http://www.ignitesocialmedia.com/social-networks/pinterest-d...)

Personally, I think men will "catch on" in the future. Many of the Pinterest users I know use it as a catalog of things they like around the web. Sometimes it's clothing/craft/recipe related, and sometimes it's a workout program, news story, or other interesting (and gender neutral) read, that they want to come back to.

kek··on Ask HN: Founding a startup in New York City?
My boyfriend and I live in a studio, large enough for the both of our "startup lifestyles", and we pay less than that in a safe neighborhood in Manhattan, close to a subway line that can take us practically anywhere in the city. This isn't a particularly rare gem, you just have to know where to look.

kek··on What Google's Famous Cafeterias Can Teach Us About Health
There is, if a person's diet is consistently high in sugary foods. They can build up insulin resistance as a result of a constantly high insulin level, and ultimately develop type 2 diabetes.
kek··on Why All The Daily Deal Hate?
Daily deal aggregators exist to reduce the noise.
kek··on Looking Back At What I Learned At College
I disagree that general education courses are "crap". I think people greatly undervalue the skills those courses teach when they pass them off as useless.

I'm graduating in about a week myself, and reflecting back on my college education, some of the liberal arts courses I was required to take helped me to develop crucial communication skills - which technical/scientific people stereotypically lack.

Also, taking some of those introductory science courses, like chemistry, help to create a foundation of knowledge to intelligently speak about other scientific ideas. Could you learn this on your own time? Sure, but if you don't particularly like a topic, it's unlikely you're going to devote your precious free time to it.

kek··on Eating Healthily for $3 a Day
The grams of protein are within his dietary needs. Nobody, male or female, needs more protein than 10% of their daily calories.

Most vegetarian diets do not lack sufficient amino acids. Protein needs are greatly exaggerated by "pop science". Iron and B12 are of greater concern than protein in non-meat diets.

kek··on The Startup Diet (Lost 15 lbs while at an Incubator)
I like the use of legumes as a base. Ever think of trying dried beans over canned? They are generally cheaper per serving as well as lower in sodium.
