kevinSuttle··on How to Find Hidden Cameras and Spy Gear
> who doesn’t touch hotel WiFi

Not even with a custom DNS or VPN?

kevinSuttle··on How to Find Hidden Cameras and Spy Gear
They know when you come and go by your key card. I was in a hotel recently in which the elevator would only move if you swiped your key card _and_ chose your floor—no other floor, even the lobby.
kevinSuttle··on How to Find Hidden Cameras and Spy Gear
Small price to pay in today’s society. These surveillance devices and storage are only going to get less expensive, and easier to conceal.
kevinSuttle··on Tech Choices I Regret at Spectrum
For a reason.
kevinSuttle··on HCL buys Notes from IBM
Very few people know this, even inside of IBM:

Notes is literally an Eclipse plugin.

There. Now you can really hate it and feel totally justified.

kevinSuttle··on Announcing Open Source of WPF, Windows Forms, and WinUI
Exactly my point. If it were open source, that work would have been fractioned.
kevinSuttle··on Announcing Open Source of WPF, Windows Forms, and WinUI
Can you imagine how much work and exploit patching could have been avoided in the last 30 years?
kevinSuttle··on New for AWS Lambda: Use Any Programming Language and Share Common Components
Woot! https://aws.amazon.com/blogs/opensource/rust-runtime-for-aws...
kevinSuttle··on Cloudflare 1.1.1.1 iOS app
I want to believe this is a good thing, but I can’t get that whole “we block Tor users” campaign out of my mind.
kevinSuttle··on Cloudflare 1.1.1.1 iOS app
According to a comment on ProductHunt:

> “Cloudflare will never sell your data or use it to target ads. Period.".

kevinSuttle··on Paper Airplane Designs
I have had this bookmarked on my phone for years, so I can pull it up every time one of my kids asks me to make one. :)

So, it's an all-day, unpredictable meeting?

kevinSuttle··on IBM seeks $167M from Groupon in dispute over early internet patents
Oh man.

[Enterprise PTSD intensifies]

kevinSuttle··on IBM seeks $167M from Groupon in dispute over early internet patents
This is one of the oldest companies in existence. It is hardly on its last legs.

Also, patents are a huge revenue stream at IBM. Always have been. However, that merely makes them the original patent troll. :)

kevinSuttle··on A Clone of the Classic Mac OS Finder in Modern Cocoa and Objective-C
That's interesting. I hadn't considering the cultural aspect in the context of icons. It's often a frame of reference when color is being decided, but icons—that's a good one. Thanks for expanding my brain here.
kevinSuttle··on A Clone of the Classic Mac OS Finder in Modern Cocoa and Objective-C
If I may, I wrote something a few years ago about why flat design is detrimental to user experience. A lot of folks have told me that they've found it helpful in gaining some perspective.

kevinSuttle··on IBM bans USB, SD cards, flash drives and portable devices from every office
The thing is, what's stopping employees from uploading files to a server? The physical devices are a fraction of a fraction of IP theft. Hence the term "theatre".
kevinSuttle··on IBM bans USB, SD cards, flash drives and portable devices from every office
Right. Even when you're on a campus and not on the employee SSID, you need to VPN in.
kevinSuttle··on IBM bans USB, SD cards, flash drives and portable devices from every office
Just another act of IBM's security theatre, and a testament to their backwards views on employee experience.
