I'm biased, but I do think it's a pretty painless way to enable HTTPS for sites both big and small. No uploading of certs, no modifications to your web app are necessary, it just works.
All in all it's the easiest relational database I've ever worked with in terms of stability, speed, and scalability. I know this sounds like an ad for Aurora, but I just really like it.
However, the only thing we really know for sure, and for which there is a mountain of evidence, is that women as a group face significantly greater challenges in this industry than men do. That may filter for various traits in women such as greater levels of grit, but I'm going to wait until this particular survey is corroborated by further study before I buy into the idea that women and men in our industry are significantly differentiated by something like personal drive. I can believe it, but I wouldn't jump to that conclusion based on this evidence alone.
Great Medium article by the way.
So I wrote a disgusting (yet fluent!) enum-based monster called JILT (Job Information Language Template), that required that every existing .jil file be rewritten as a statically-typed java enum which could then be used to spit out the entire tree of validated .jil files. The nice thing was that your job dependencies were now enforced by the compiler and could be included in CI. But the actual inner workings were a hot mess. And of course, now the support teams have two systems to maintain and ensure they remain in sync.
This was at Goldman Sachs and I hear it's still under active development by the support teams...

How do you teach someone to recognize truth, even when they cannot verify it for themselves?
And to pre-empt any argument that I may be too faithless about people's natural proclivity to protect themselves, consider something as as epic and clear-cut as climate change. I can't think of a better example of something so threatening to society yet so popularly disregarded.

It's a great tool, very convenient.
The funny thing is that it's possible the UI could have been screwed while keeping the search stable, but as the article points out, the search is killing me. It's Apple Maps-ish in a way. I mean, if I'm zoomed in to a particular level and I do a search, there's a good bet that I'm only interested in results within those bounds, right? I'm not crazy to want that am I?
To me this is not a story about programming or gender, it's a story about grit.
Case in point: http://www.cbsnews.com/news/goldman-sachs-ceo-lloyd-blankfei...
The fact is, we can pull our support from people who we think are shitty if we want to in order to push progress forward to the kind of society we want to live it, specifically one where all Americans are treated equally under the law.
If it were up to me, I would completely eradicate the idea of marriage as a government institution, it doesn't belong in their hands in the first place. But I'm very much in the minority on that one.
