kitd··on TornadoVM 7 Enables GPU-Native Workloads from Java Applications
I'll be disappointed if this isn't named AbstractAiInfrastructureFactory
kitd··on I don't understand quantum physics (2018)
Don't take the title too literally. It's an article aimed at lay people, using a typical lay person's expression as the title.
kitd··on Ofcom concedes defeat in 4chan case
Ofcom knows it's barmy. They are pursuing foreign sites because a) they are required to by law, and b) they are under political pressure to do so. But I suspect they are quite happy that it has backfired, to help relieve some of that pressure and bring into the open the barminess of the OSA enterprise.
kitd··on Woman who rescued injured crow keeps getting 'thank-you gifts' from birds [video]
Be careful what you wish for. They may start learning to code.
kitd··on Type-safe HTML templating in Zig
Nice work. This is a good approach IMHO, and (if you need validation) also the one adopted by Templ in Go, which has a 'generate' command to do this.
kitd··on Turbo Haskell
Odd that the FFI list didn't include Java given the JVM target. Typo or oversight?
kitd··on LinkedIn Larpmaxxing
X is the same. "Check out what [politician/celeb] said on X!!" And it's the login page.

The answer is not to sign up to X, but to learn to suppress your FOMO. Chances are it was drivel anyway. Especially true for LinkedIn.

kitd··on The systems that no one will test
Can't escape the feeling that the original vulnerability was deliberately planted as a mechanism for law enforcement (or maybe criminal orgs) to "expedite" investigations.
kitd··on Who wrote Elizabeth I's most scathing letters?
She wasn't in power very long though.
kitd··on The Bayeux Tapestry: Woven by the Victors
Reading articles in advance of commenting usually helps
kitd··on How to build a printer
Good article.

One of the great things about having an open platform like the Xteink is that it should uncover loads of novel and unsatisfied use cases. Eg, this could be paired with a mobile phone to act as a secondary display much better suited to outdoor applications in bright sunlight.

kitd··on LibreOffice breaks download records after declaring it has no AI features
Absolute number of downloads inevitably goes up. Weekly downloads number doesn't.
kitd··on Nitter and XCancel resume service after legal advice
> Google and Facebook fucked up the internet.

I'd say advertising has fucked up the Internet. Everything they (and plenty of others) have done has been to collect and sell personal data to advertising brokers.

kitd··on IBM Bob
A lot of IBM customers have moved to RH Openshift and running their java there.
kitd··on Doubling of Kobo's U.S. sales in both 2025 and 2026, 70% US female customer base
Fun fact: I searched for Kobo Clara on Amazon, and the algorithm has labelled it "Amazon's choice". A subtle agreement with you maybe :)
kitd··on Apache Iggy, a message streaming platform in Rust, graduates to an Apache TLP
Apache is just an umbrella organisation for managing open source software projects. There's nothing that links those projects otherwise.
kitd··on Twitter Viewer – View Twitter Without Account
Isn't that just "the World Wide Web"?

The reason these sites require login is because they also want to control the resulting conversations, whether for moderation (generous) or selling your data (more likely).

Announcements/political campaigning doesn't require feedback in the same way so no reason for them to use X, FB or anything else.

Seeing the state of most conversations on X or FB, I'm quite happy with limiting the general public's ability to broadcast to the world.

kitd··on Supersonic Trebuchet [video]
Love it! But shouldn't that be "high results/complexity ratio"?
kitd··on The oldest bar in every state
As depicted by Norman Rockwell:

kitd··on Delphi 13 Community Edition Is Now Available
No Linux support is a shame. Fortunately there's Lazarus and FreePascal as an alternative.
kitd··on Squeak 6.1
For me, Smalltalk's "wow" moment was the concept of a persistently running image, with the developer's job being to mould and manipulate it into the shape s/he wants.
kitd··on Go 1.27 Interactive Tour
That's helped by errors.Unwrap() and errors.Is(), though you do need to build and structure your errors appropriately.
kitd··on Go 1.27 Interactive Tour
It looks more reasonable (literally lol) with syntax highlighting though.
kitd··on Una GPS smart watch – Repairable, USB-C charging, developer-friendly
I have a Garmin Vivoactive 3. Fantastic watch but I find the HRM underwhelming. Not very accurate and drains battery. I pair a chest band with it instead for much better quality monitoring.
kitd··on Htmx 4.0, the first JavaScript library to release exclusively on the Game Boy
Why?
kitd··on Scanwheel is a drum style mechanical television you can build yourself
I mean if you squint hard enough, it's the same idea as a cathode ray tube. Each hole scans across the "screen" for the desired width, then the next hole down takes over, which does the same. Back in the day, you'd get an interrupt when the reset happened, and you could recalculate your sprite position before the next line got scanned.

Very cool seeing this implementation though. Congrats, OP!

kitd··on Zero roadkill as Amazon canopy bridges secure 15,000 crossings
Not exactly apples to oranges though, is it?
kitd··on Hannah Fry Wins the Leelavati Prize in 2026 for Mathematics Outreach
Yup. And using it a lot recently ... !
kitd··on Hannah Fry Wins the Leelavati Prize in 2026 for Mathematics Outreach
Yeah, you're probably right. Looking back at news reports, it looks like the Haslemere case may have been the first person infected within the UK, ie they hadn't been abroad.
