kqueue··on Show HN: groups.io
Thanks. The FB design influence was intentional because of the reason you mentioned. The groups are private for now I am planning to make that optional.
kqueue··on Show HN: groups.io
groups.io is a project I made in my free time to create permanent private group chat with an easy way to share files, links, albums.

I'd appreciate your feedback.

kqueue··on Did Apple tamper with evidence in the German Apple v. Samsung case?
yeah that title will get you a lot of traffic
kqueue··on Why U.S. Broadband is So Slow
Hong Kong is small country which makes it faster / cheaper to adopt new technologies compared to adopting it in 50 states where some states are magnitude bigger than Hong Kong.
kqueue··on a[5] == 5[a]
C 101.. HN is becoming sillier every day.
kqueue··on Poll: What should be done about the endless repetition of stories?
Have HN inform the user that the link has been submitted before.
kqueue··on Ten Ways to Check if an Integer Is a Power Of Two in C
if x is unsigned, then:

(x & (x - 1)) == 0

kqueue··on Graph: How long it took Facebook, Twitter and Google+ to reach 10 million users
I think this article was written to drive traffic only. The author is comparing apples and oranges and he knows it.
kqueue··on Python idioms
That's definitely interesting.
kqueue··on Python idioms
~$python -mtimeit "'a' + 'b' + 'c' + 'd'"

10000000 loops, best of 3: 0.026 usec per loop

~$python -mtimeit "''.join(('a','b','c','d'))"

10000000 loops, best of 3: 0.197 usec per loop

kqueue··on Why is TCP accept() performance so bad under Xen?
When the kernel takes control the MMU gets involved to update the memory mapping.
kqueue··on Why is TCP accept() performance so bad under Xen?
just a hypothesis. accept() triggers a context switch. Context switches involves MMU commands, and can be slower in xen if it is being emulated in software (type2 hypervisor). This is much slower than a native OS doing a context switch and the MMU operations are executed at the CPU level.

kqueue··on Twitter’s Shit Sandwich
twitter xAuth is not secure. Why do you want me to hand over my username/password to a third party service?
kqueue··on Stop writing milliseconds and hating JavaScript's setTimeout & setInterval
milliseconds is pretty readable. What's not readable is "9.7" and 100 because I am not sure if that's in seconds, milliseconds unless I know the default.
kqueue··on Splinter: Python tool for acceptance tests on web applications
How's it different than http://seleniumhq.org/ ?
kqueue··on Irony: Sitemaps.org doesn't have sitemap.xml
Who said that sitemap.xml is always in that location? If it is not specified in robots.txt then they don't want you to know about it in case it exists.
kqueue··on Ask HN: Review my startup Sharepad (Collaborative contacts/email for Gmail)
Of course I did. But you weren't reaching a wide audience positing it on a Friday afternoon.
kqueue··on Ask HN: Books for soon to be Software Engineers
I am sure you'll get enough suggestions on technical books so I won't bother suggesting one. But make sure to pay extra attention to communication. A huge part in software engineering is communication.
kqueue··on Ask HN: Review my startup Sharepad (Collaborative contacts/email for Gmail)
IMHO Friday afternnon is not the most effective time to announce a startup
kqueue··on Linus on Linux, 20 Years In
Oops, my bad.
kqueue··on JavaScript performance and a Webkit hotspot
I don't think this is webkit specific. Chrome uses a different JS engine than other webkit based browsers.
kqueue··on Tell HN: Please bring back comment scores
It's interesting to see an 8 hours post that has 374 points, and 156 comments on the second page instead of being on the first page.

kqueue··on Hashify.me - store entire website content in the URL
python> 'a' * 16000

copy that to hashify, and let me know the length of the url you get.

kqueue··on Hashify.me - store entire website content in the URL
This is going to break in cases where the request line grows above 8k-16k. Many browsers/proxies implement limits on headers/request lines, for good reasons.

It's a very cool idea though.

kqueue··on Facebook Now Lets You Take Your Data With You
Why are you posting this?
kqueue··on Ask HN: Has anyone had negative experiences with zeromq?
+1. I learn the most from reinventing wheels. And I reinvent them on purpose.

Most of the articles are copied from somewhere else.
