krankthat··on Real-time LaTeX using (Neo)Vim, VimTeX, and snippets
Goal of this guide: make writing LaTeX as easy (fast, efficient, enjoyable…) as writing math by hand. Tech stack: the Vim text editor using the UltiSnips snippet plugin and the VimTeX plugin’s LaTeX editing features. The series should help if you…

are interested in taking real-time lecture notes using LaTeX, à la Gilles Castel,
want a LaTeX experience decidedly more pleasant and efficient than whatever you were probably first taught, whether your motivation is real-time university lecture speed or not,
hope to switch to Vim from a different LaTeX editor, but are unsure how to proceed, or
just want to browse someone else’s workflow and configuration out of curiosity.
krankthat··on A Tour of the Fuchsia Operating System [video]
To answer the obligatory question "but does it run linux?": well, kinda ... it can run ELF binaries, but it only supports the syscalls defined in "posix-lite".

krankthat··on Last year, more people in San Francisco died of overdoses than of Covid-19
Is this evidence of the effectiveness of following CDC guidelines, or evidence that opiates are still a bigger problem?
krankthat··on Study finds alarming levels of ‘forever chemicals’ in US mothers’ breast milk
This is concerning, but with a sample size of 50, I don't think there's enough evidence to claim that "The study shows that PFAS contamination of breast milk is likely universal in the US".
krankthat··on Vaccinated Americans now may go without masks in most places, the CDC said
It's still unclear whether or not masks helped reduce the spread of COVID-19.

krankthat··on The missing continent it took 375 years to find
TLDR: New Zealand sits on top of its own continent that goes nearly as far south as Antarctica.
krankthat··on Breaking Samsung Firmware, or Turning Your S8/S9/S10 into a DIY “Proxmark”

krankthat··on Reverse Engineering Snapchat: Obfuscation Techniques
I'd be fascinated to read about your old team's work!
krankthat··on U.S. Telcos Sold Highly Sensitive Customer GPS Data Typically Used for 911 Calls
No -- you'd need DNSCrypt for that.
krankthat··on Self-solving Rubik's Cube
Yeah -- what I'm most curious about is how it determines its initial state. Does it need to be powered up and "zeroed" like a scale before it's scrambled? How does the algorithm know which actuator needs to be moved and which direction it needs to be moved in?
krankthat··on An attempt to upgrade to Webpack 4
Just like git tags, release notes, makefiles, etc ... Documentation is one of those things that needs to be updated as part of a new release.
krankthat··on Usability improvements in GCC 8
Awesome GSoC project. Well done.
krankthat··on Who Killed the Junior Developer?
/agree

I love hiring and mentoring junior developers, but the barrier to entry is quite high. Employers love junior developers with aptitude and enthusiasm.
