ktimespi··on Ask HN: What are you working on? (November 2026)
I've been working on an Obsidian plugin to quickly enter caloric and nutritional data (https://www.github.com/Krishna-Sivakumar/joule). The core features are done (A DSL and a runtime for finding and resolving formulae recursively), and I need to work on documentation and some convenience features. Hoping to finish it this month!
ktimespi··on US voters roundly reject data centers in ballot measures
Companies do mandate AI usage from the top, no?
ktimespi··on Copper – A minimal low-level programming language with OOP and generics
What's the problem with self-hosting? I do imagine it's easier to write a compiler in something like Haskell.
ktimespi··on AI is ruining haunted houses
They haven't gotten rid of the biggest tell though; the fact that it looks like mass produced AI art.
ktimespi··on Local Wikipedia: Wikipedia, but only for things a half hour walk from you
Coolest shit I've seen here in a while ngl
ktimespi··on What Is the Karakoram Anomaly?
it's so over for me lol
ktimespi··on What Is the Karakoram Anomaly?
Yeah, I agree. Funnily enough, Katsu isn't pronounced that way either XD (it's pronounced cawt-sue)
ktimespi··on "I'm on a war footing": Terry Tao and the crisis in math
talk for yourself
ktimespi··on Two-Stack Sliding-Window Aggregation
yeah, I agree it's a bit distracting
ktimespi··on Two-Stack Sliding-Window Aggregation
I was working on aggregations like this for a datalog research project and couldn't figure out a way to do it without recomputing the entire window. I love the way this exchanges space for compute, this is really cool!!!
ktimespi··on I built non-autoregressive decision models with RL a year ago
"Juvenile" is a weird label to assign to someone whose work is re-presented by someone else and not attributed properly. People here had a very different take on the Navier-Stokes situation XD
ktimespi··on PS5 Linux lead quits: "a bunch of noobs using LLMs" that "they don't understand"
The article is about using it to the detriment of the community...
ktimespi··on Show HN: OwnTime – a chess clock for your day's priorities
Yeah, it seems sufficient. I'll mail you if I need anything more!
ktimespi··on Show HN: OwnTime – a chess clock for your day's priorities
If you don't mind posting a video tour of the app, I would work on it.
ktimespi··on Show HN: OwnTime – a chess clock for your day's priorities
This sounds very useful to me, unfortunately i don't own an iPhone.
ktimespi··on India has paved the way for charging merchants a fee on UPI transactions
I think there are solutions to the UPI problem which are not whatever this is. Cash has been a huge pain point in India for a while now.
ktimespi··on OpenAI’s accidental attack against Hugging Face is science fiction that happened
Agreed, deterministically bounding permissions is the way. I don't know how this is not the first approach that people take.
ktimespi··on Everyone should know SIMD
The biggest barrier I faced learning SIMD is the weird naming convention for intrinsics.

Once I got past that, it was fairly simple. mcyoung's articles were also super helpful

ktimespi··on How did I publish a paper in ACMKDD as an undergraduate
An interesting article about how Jarret (author of the article) came up with the precursor to FSRS (Free Space Repetition Scheduler), the algorithm used by default in Anki now
ktimespi··on Job queues are deceptively tricky
I find it very annoying when queue problems break into queue-of-queue patterns like in the `wait`scenario
ktimespi··on Amber the programming language compiled to Bash/Ksh/Zsh
I'm a fan of this project. Great work!
ktimespi··on Interview with Mitchell Hashimoto about Ghostty and Zig
It does need quite a bit of time to be productive with... That being said, Rust by Example is good
ktimespi··on 'Careless People' author claims Meta surveilled her for 12mos to enforce silence
Incredibly yucky of Zuckerberg do that. I found it very hard to read through that part.
ktimespi··on Fintech Engineering Handbook
Aren't decimal types BCD coded?
ktimespi··on 'Careless People' author claims Meta surveilled her for 12mos to enforce silence
The major allegations are about Meta bringing authoritarians to power while shirking responsibility for making that happen
ktimespi··on FUTO Swipe – A new swipe typing model
If this can learn my patterns, that itself is enough. Google Keyboard used to do this, but mysteriously doesn't do it anymore.
ktimespi··on F* file system – file search that reads SSD directly bypassing OS kernel
Pretty cool to read it directly from the associated device XD

Did you write a metadata parser for most of the filesystems?

ktimespi··on F* file system – file search that reads SSD directly bypassing OS kernel
If the disk decides to falsely report a flush, there's not much you can do about it from the user side, no?
ktimespi··on Claude Design
Is this really that big of a moat for Figma to cross though? They would have a much easier time integrating AI than the other way around
ktimespi··on YouTube now lets you turn off Shorts
finally.
