Do you have an agent scanning the front page waiting to post the pelicans?
kubb··on Show HN: Steal My Bitcoin
Can you ask your favorite „AI” to comment on what you’ve just said?
kubb··on The same AI request emits 8.5 times more CO2 in Texas than in Sweden
Thanks for the ragebait. Reminding myself that the flaw here is obvious, there’s no need to respond, arbitrary „tests” aren’t binding to anyone, protecting the future is perfectly defensible as a moral stance even at cost of present convenience.
kubb··on Local Wikipedia: Wikipedia, but only for things a half hour walk from you
Is it possible to change the language of Wikipedia? For many places, the local language Wikipedia has more articles.
kubb··on Why is every rationalist blog post way too long?
Using the easy to defend claim (acting without perfect information is necessary) to defend a much broader one (my judgement is rational and justified based on the information I have) is a classical motte and bailey fallacy.

People in the rationalist community don’t see it, because ironically they’re not rational enough. But they use the language and essay format to make it seem like they are.

kubb··on Why is every rationalist blog post way too long?
If your pick of the option is based on emotion or aesthetics, the decision isn’t rational. Presenting is as such is misleading and dishonest.
kubb··on Why is every rationalist blog post way too long?
This unfortunately doesn’t help if it isn’t paired with withholding judgement in the face of insufficient evidence, but rationalists don’t do that. They just pick a model they like and continue, and the burden of scrutinizing that model is on others.
kubb··on Containment and monitoring failures are to blame for AI hacking reports: experts
Censorship to prevent thought crimes on HN? Can’t be!

Look up the company providing it and you’ll laugh about it.
kubb··on What agents mean for Rust (and vice versa)
I wonder if „hard“ languages like Haskell will make a comeback with LLMs, because the short term cost of learning the language isn’t that significant anymore contrasted with the long term benefits of the type system and better structure.
kubb··on Felix Rieseberg Homepage
I should be career hopping some more.
kubb··on Anthropic AI model submits false tip on unsolved Philly murder, police say
What’s amazing is that nobody would have even noticed if it weren’t for Anthropocene being all “LOOOK WHAT WE DIIIIID WE SENT AN EEEEEEEEEMMMMMAAAILL. SOOORRRY”.

Crying for attention in the attention economy has never been more pathetic, but I think it will get worse.

kubb··on Germany’s RobCo hits $1B valuation
It’s weird that people are celebrating the end of Europe here every day because they „killed themselves with regulations” but one German company does well and it’s a mass freak out?
kubb··on On social reality in China
Yeah I think it gives them the illusion of being more right than the average person even if those are just the same old confused thoughts you could expect from anyone.
kubb··on On social reality in China
Stable housing prices are not the problem you think they are.
kubb··on On social reality in China
There’s a whole market for explaining other cultures to Americans wrongly but in terms that they can understand.

They’ll prefer to listen to that because this kind of communication is done using the language and concepts they understand. They’ll confidently and arrogantly tell other people what they are based on this „knowledge”.

People ITT are loving it and enjoying it.

kubb··on How Singapore's government-run dating service works
how about you make the insight about the difference between the state and the government :)
kubb··on How Singapore's government-run dating service works
> room temperature IQ

careful, we have a very intelligent individual over here

> arc of just about every government

do you mean the US government?

kubb··on How Singapore's government-run dating service works
The solution for your food being spoiled is to get rid of it, and get something fresh. Not to stop eating food.
kubb··on How Singapore's government-run dating service works
> but the fact it's state-run / promoted gives me the ick

That’s an irrational reaction, probably conditioned by ideology.

A well-run state has been perhaps one of the most successful enabling factors for human flourishing in human history.

kubb··on How Singapore's government-run dating service works
As someone who ho grew up in a smalll bedroom with multiple siblings until I was 19…

Fuck that.

kubb··on California farmers are struggling to sell grapes as demand for wine drops
I’ve recently been in Spain and the non-alcoholic beer was great. To be fair I can’t remember the last time I’ve had alcoholic beer because of the same reasons many people mentioned already, so maybe it’s just a matter of getting used to it.
kubb··on Ember-1
Good observation! It would have to be offset with O(140k) queries to the model, which is, well, unlikely.
kubb··on Does Georgism work? Five years later
The market would stop it unless there’s an employment monopoly in which case you need more regulation.
kubb··on ASML says it sold 'absolutely nothing' in Europe in 2026
Hope they can solve the whole littering problem somehow.
kubb··on Teen Social Media Bans Miss the Point
“It failed now please don’t try anymore, see it can’t be done, trust the kidz.”

Someone’s nervous.

kubb··on I think I hate the internet
Red pill content also gives you a nice speed boost. And xenophobia is very good for engagement.
kubb··on We built our house for LAN parties (2024)
Amazing how trained you are to connect the most basic observations about the world to politics.

No wonder you deployed all of those debate tactics.

How about a change of mindset first?

kubb··on We built our house for LAN parties (2024)
They do have that right and it results in waste.

Maybe they should be shamed for vanity projects and not admired?

Maybe admitting that the phenomenon exists is the first step before any ideas can even be discussed? Clearly it’s extremely difficult for people to recognize.

Communicating yes, making other people do your research for you, because you’re too stubborn and lazy, no.
