labratmatt··on Helix tools: transform any API as tools for LLMs automatically
This is cool. I often don't need a visual interface - give me text

labratmatt··on The Subway That Sunk
The agent of change is often the punching bag.
labratmatt··on Ask HN: How did you increase your UX skills?
Tell yourself and others that you're and empath and that you're human-centered. Seek out like minds and converse with them about interfaces. Do it lots - for years.
labratmatt··on Ask HN: How is the remote vs in-person trend looking?
The company I work for seems to be trending toward remote. It feels like a bad trend to me - quality of work is lower. Creativity is lower.

Put me in a room with a few other folks, some whiteboards and some laptops and magic happens. Hanging around the house and chatting on zoom+slack is boring, pathetic and produces no magic.

labratmatt··on 100 years of whatever this will be
What is the rate of change?
labratmatt··on 100 years of whatever this will be
Abundance is not equally distributed
labratmatt··on 100 years of whatever this will be
You see what you want to see. These are not true in my daily life,

1 "Rich, powerful, greedy people and corporations just get richer, more powerful, and more greedy." 2 "Everyone seems to increasingly be in it for themselves, not for society." 3 "Or, people who are in it for society tend to lose or to get screwed until they give up."

Dial back the doom and gloom mindset. It's an abundant world.

labratmatt··on Show HN: OpenBooth – Phone booths that elevate you and your calls
Hi Hacker News! Excited to share OpenBooth.store

Phone booths for privacy and increased focus. We're in Menlo Park and deliver to the San Francisco Bay Area.

Let me know if we can help, matt@publicgood.studio

labratmatt··on Ask HN: Finding Shared Warehouse Space
I don't know if the pattern is the same for Toronto and the SF Bay Area.

I simply want a way to rent warehouse space in a light weight way - without signing a two year lease. Always cool to share workspace with like minds too.

Thank you.

labratmatt··on Ask HN: Finding Shared Warehouse Space
Hi rrggrr. I'm so clueless - how do I pm on hn? Can I email you? I'm at matt@publicgood.studio
labratmatt··on The Problem with Positive Thinking
The author is confusing positive thinking with blind, without-a-plan, plowing ahead. They're not the same.

Optimism and positive thinking are close synonyms. Positive thinking is the a belief that there is a solution to the problem and that you, as a problem solver, should be open to the paths that lead to the solution.

labratmatt··on HathiTrust’s Top Most Accessed Volumes, May 2014
Huh. Why would a book published in 1914, about treating lung issues with kerosene, top the list? Why would there be so much interest in that item?
labratmatt··on Ask HN: What is the next industry to be disrupted?
Pants for dogs. The current dog pants industry is old, slow, and full of inefficiency. It's next.
labratmatt··on Digg/Delicious Traffic Down 40%. Social Bookmarking Fragmentation
I instantly thought "Duh. Digg is tanking, but reddit is gaining." I was surprised to see that my inital thought appears to not be true: http://siteanalytics.compete.com/reddit.com+digg.com/
