lazystone··on OpenIDEA: The IDE you know, rebuilt in Rust
I think everyone knows.
lazystone··on Java's new AOT cache feature is in a rough state
> In theory, the whole AOT cache idea sounds like something that should only affect the class data and not perform any native compilation

https://openjdk.org/jeps/544

> Non-Goals

> It is not a goal to support cross-compilation. Code compiled in a training run must run on the same CPU architecture, with the same set of features, in subsequent production runs.

lazystone··on Coding is not solved
And after 2024 all bugs cease to exist, right.

Oh, I see, jokes from 30 years ago!
lazystone··on 216M Spy TVs – The LG Smart TV Problem [video]
"Just a good large monitor" costs a fortune.

If anyone could recommend any dumb TV with good panels in EU, you're more than welcome.

lazystone··on Unfurl – Freeing the Internet from Big Cloud
Don't take my word for it, but to me it looks like yet another abstraction layer.

And in practice people don't change their cloud providers that often(yes it happens, but USUALLY not).

And again, in practice you should learn this layer and layer from real provider and know how things are mapped from one to another one. Because, again, in practice you will support real k8s cluster or something like that, and you'll need to support and solve problems THERE, but applying fixes in a different domain language HERE.

lazystone··on Incident with Actions and Pages
Hide it behind VPN, so it's not accessible from outside.
lazystone··on Leave Me Behind
I think we all been fooled by the sentence: "It's yet another automation, it's like horses were replaced by cars". It is not. Industrialization and automation is about manual labor. LLM/AI is about outsourcing thinking. And while I'll give two thumbs up for using ML(there is not 'I' in 'AI') as a technology for some tasks, outsourcing thinking is an evolutionary dead-end.

How do I explain this to 15yo teenager?..

lazystone··on Show HN: Termstage – Animated terminal SVGs from YAML, no screen recording
> I was tired of screen-recording CLI demos

What was wrong with https://asciinema.org/ ?

lazystone··on YAML document from hell (2023)
No one mentioned HashiCorp HCL so far, though it's really a shame that it didn't get much traction...

Ukrainian "Regime"? WTF?..
lazystone··on Cargo Cult Agile (2008)
"Agile" works, but "Agile" is not a set of rules to follow. "Agile" is a chain of conscious decisions made by a team.

"We have sprints" is not "Agile". Neither "we use Jira", nor "we have retros".

Term "Agile" has been stolen from us, butchered and it's dead body had been turned to scarecrow. And now all those "agile couches", "agile offices", "certified scrum masters" are dancing around it's corpse.

But there are some of us, who worked in truly agile team, we witnessed it in it's glory. We remember when it was alive.

If you worship Cargo Cult, you aren't doing "Agile" despite the name. Period.

I'm on Linux/Firefox 94.0 - same.

Those things solve completely different problems.
lazystone··on Problems with JPA/Hibernate
> Doctor, it hurts when I do this. Then don't do that
lazystone··on Problems with JPA/Hibernate
That's why JOOQ is superior.
