lean··on Does the Google Bot index css hidden divs? yes.
Was there ever and doubt that it did? How could we excuse hiding/showing "tabs", for example, if it didn't?
lean··on Introducing Amazon Silk
Agreed, at first I just chalked it up to this be a "rogue" blog by some members of the team, but this page is the only "official" page I can find on the product. The favicon is even Wordpress...

Edit: this is a more branded description: [Amazon Help](http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html//ref=amb...). No video though.

lean··on Show HN: Kerning.js — Take control of your web typography
I'm working on a fine-grained typography control JS library myself, very interesting work.

Designers/front-ends, what things would you like to control about your type now, that you can't yet?

lean··on Show HN: Kerning.js — Take control of your web typography
In this way "kerning.js" doesn't seem to be the most descriptive name for this project. Everything but the first example is not related to kerning, just typography. My first thought, when I read the title of this post, was "but we already have kernjs..."
lean··on 5 deal-breaking flaws in Windows 8
>1. Multi-tasking

If you have a keyboard attached, it's still just as easy. If you don't, you're a tablet, and you don't need it.

>2. You can’t close apps

So...like Android, OSX Lion, UNIX, etc? Why do I need to close apps?

>3. Goodbye Start menu

Thank zeus. The only reason I even glance at the Start Menu is because that's where the search bar is. Remember navigating through huge directory trees to launch an app in Win95? You want that back?

>4. It’s very hard to reboot and shut down

So what? I do that, maybe, once a week?

>5. The beautiful Start menu search is dead

What?! The (working) search bar was the single greatest improvement to the Win UI in ages. I really hope this is just an alpha thing...

lean··on Kendo UI - a framework for modern HTML UI
Seems like an obvious FAQ would be, "How does this compare to jQuery UI?".
lean··on Google buys Zagat
Zagat still exists? Isn't it a bunch of old reviews written by a handful of writers?
lean··on Chrome's Most Important Feature
So why hasn't Firefox implemented this yet? They've already said they are moving away from version numbers, but I still get the "You need to update, do you want to?" and "You've updated, now stop what you're doing and restart".

Chrome has eliminated both of these dialogs (that used to be browser standards), and the FF dev team is usually responsive enough to adopt new, good ideas quickly. So what gives?

lean··on Improvements in Windows Explorer - Building Windows 8
Huh, column view is one of the things I missed most from Finder. I loved how you could click and hold a file, and navigate through a directory tree just by hovering over each folder in the path.

For your second issue, couldn't use just use a symlink from the Music folder to the external drive?

lean··on Twitter Bootstrap
I think Josef Müller-Brockmann predates those two by just a bit :)
lean··on Data Without Borders logo contest
>NGO's and non-profits I'm assuming that 'data without borders' is not a commercial enterprise

Not-for-profit doesn't mean no-profit, doesn't mean no-income, doesn't mean no-expenses. You can get a crappy logo for $500, I doubt that's beyond their operating budget.

>but from a human/charity perspective it seems rather harsh to consider this an 'insult'..

Spec work is spec work, it will always be insulting. "But the guys doing the insulting are really nice!" is not an excuse.

lean··on Oh, Adobe... read the copy, then view the source.
OOCSS says to never specify elements in the CSS, right? :)
lean··on Chrome extension "Awesome Screenshot" messes with Google search results
> Because when I search some shopping items in google, I always want to check them in amazon at the same time.

Seriously? You expect us to believe you maliciously hijacked user's search results and put in your own affiliate links just because you thought it would be "nice"??

>In the spirit of transparency

AKA "Now that we got caught acting against the spirit of transparency..."

>we should disclose that this feature does bring small amount of revenue to us

Yeah, no shit; but someone else already "disclosed" that.

>Since so many users don't like it, we already updated a new version(3.2.1) to remove this feature.

So what? You've demonstrated a lack of respect for the user's trust and privacy. Why should we trust a liar?

lean··on Data Without Borders logo contest
How patronizing. This is a great way to alienate all but the worst designers. No professional would ever validate such an insult with a response.

"Plumbing contest!! Fix our leaky sink! Do all the work upfront, IF we like it, you'll get a gift card worth 10% of the price!"

lean··on The Shapes of CSS
Can someone explain the triangles?

I see what their doing, but why does it make the triangle shape? Shouldn't it just render as a square with different sized rectangular borders?
