lemonish97··on A 10-year-old CNN outperforms frontier LLMs for skin cancer diagnosis
it's also the unfortunate practice of trying to use the new shiny thing everywhere and anywhere to signal that you're keeping with the times. It's funny how i've seen newer devs brush off things as 'traditional ml'
lemonish97··on Claude Duet
Tbh, I still see labs demoing "reservations" or "email triaging" as the best use-cases. Definitely sure there are many niche ones too, but I'm still not sold on these.
lemonish97··on The bridge to agent-scale Git infrastructure
Why is this "tone deaf in timing"? Isn't this addressing gh's biggest bottleneck at the moment?
lemonish97··on OpenAI models are coming to Google Cloud
"OpenAI models will soon be available in the Gemini Agent"

They definitely need to have a better name if they're going to use 3p models

lemonish97··on GitLab Outage
Right, on to another alternative now
lemonish97··on MAI-Code-1-Flash
4.5 is still the latest Haiku model
lemonish97··on MAI-Code-1-Flash
> "It is nearly free on the max plans"

is a funny oxymoron

lemonish97··on Gmail thinks I'm stupid, so I left
Looking at the next iOS rumors, I think it's inevitable.
lemonish97··on MAI-Code-1-Flash
They were mostly distilled or fine-tuned OAI models.
lemonish97··on MAI-Code-1-Flash
What is your evidence for this claim?
lemonish97··on OpenAI reinvents Recall except everything is stored remotely
Isn't this exactly why Microsoft had to recall 'Recall'?
lemonish97··on SpaceX says it has agreement to acquire Cursor for $60B
OpenCode and Github copilot are still options if you want the freedom to choose different models.
lemonish97··on SpaceX says it has agreement to acquire Cursor for $60B
What's Cursor's moat here? I'm a bit surprised that xAI/SpaceX needs to buy them rather than building their own VScode forked IDE or an agentic UI/CLI.
lemonish97··on YouTube now world's largest media company, topping Disney
I always see it as more of a social media company rather than a media co.
lemonish97··on Microsoft isn't removing Copilot from Windows 11, it's just renaming it
From the article: "Additionally, AI features in Notepad settings has been renamed to Advanced features and it allows users to toggle off AI capabilities within the app."

I honestly don't mind this, as long as it's not being forced. And I believe this feature exists only within their npu PCs.

lemonish97··on Muse Spark: Scaling towards personal superintelligence
I have a feeling it won't be this exact model, but rather smaller distilled variants, similar to the gemma line
lemonish97··on YouTube starts showing 90-second unskippable ads to TV viewers
The only solutions to anyone now are ad-blockers (that work) and premium. I still don't see the latter being successful, especially outside the US.
lemonish97··on YouTube starts showing 90-second unskippable ads to TV viewers
Try Playlet. Lookup the git repo. Has some really cool features like auto-skipping in-video sponsored ads too.
lemonish97··on GitHub Copilot CLI now supports BYOK and local models
Also introduces offline mode for air-gapped environments
lemonish97··on GLM-5.1: Towards Long-Horizon Tasks
Agree. But you can keep the pelican theme in whatever new benchmark you choose to come up with. Iconic at this point.
lemonish97··on Gemma 4 on iPhone
Isn't their competition (at least in the mobile space) google/android themselves?
lemonish97··on Gemma 4 on iPhone
I hope they add a web search tool to the agent skills too. Most of my llm usage on my phone are just quick lookups and search summarizations. Would love to do these with a local model rather than Google AI mode of any other cloud based inference tools.
lemonish97··on MAI-Transcribe-1, MAI-Voice-1 and MAI-Image-2 are available in Foundry
MAI-Image-2 is a really good image model. Seems to be doing really well on Arena AI too. Great to see msft reducing their reliance on OAI
lemonish97··on OpenAI Has New Focus (on the IPO)
unfortunately, that seems to be the eventual turn for any ai company, once they reach a user buy-in cliff
lemonish97··on OpenAI Has New Focus (on the IPO)
That's github copilot though, which is different (gh is msft, but here you have the option to choose other models too). Their regular copilot app and the one on windows still uses oai as their base model, which can hurt oai, if they choose to move away from it
lemonish97··on Nvidia Will Spend $26B to Build Open-Weight AI Models
Some of the nemotron models are really good. Hope this encourages more open-weight/source models from the west
lemonish97··on BitNet: 100B Param 1-Bit model for local CPUs
They seem to be getting better or more powerful. The newer Intel Panther lakes and AMD Ryzen are over 50 TOPS now, IIRC
lemonish97··on BitNet: 100B Param 1-Bit model for local CPUs
I wonder when we begin to see the dividends of all the NPU PCs come into play. AMD have been doing some good work with their NPU/iGPU hybrid inference kernels. If these larger models could be scaled down to run on NPUs, you'd see much better power advantages, compared to running them on the CPU.
lemonish97··on MacBook Neo review: No other budget laptop can compete
[flagged]
lemonish97··on Copilot Cowork: A new way of getting work done
Clearly shows you haven't opened the link?

"Working closely with Anthropic, we have integrated the technology behind Claude Cowork into Microsoft 365 Copilot."
