I read it as he is open to contributions and if you want to use AI that's allowed but he notes that he does not and he provides a rationale to boot. Fine by me.

State machines cannot change the semantics of themselves. We can. We are like state machines most of the time but we can switch into "developer mode" and deploy updates whenever we choose to :)

I think they're working on it. There seems to be an HTML renderer now in addition to the canvas implementation.
