Is it the philosophical reason you refuse to engage or is it because you don’t trust the security of this project?

lolptdr··on Show HN: I made a web app to bring children's drawings to life
I'm getting the same problem, just a static image panning around.
lolptdr··on Show HN: I made a web app to bring children's drawings to life
Hmm, I don't see any free token. I agree that one free token is a good way to get interest going.
lolptdr··on Everything I wish I knew when learning C
As a curious FE developer with no C experience, this was very interesting. Thanks for writing the article!

Damn, this is impressive. Wish there were more annotations of other notable sky objects in addition to what's shown.

lolptdr··on Big O, Little N
Newbie question: why would a hash function ever result in hash collision? Why can't a hash function guarantee a unique output value?
lolptdr··on Coding for Kids Is Not Just Another Fad
Very similar experience to me. I grew up in the 90s in a suburb of Dallas, TX. The most interesting things we did in elementary school was play Oregon Trail on Apple IIe and make obnoxious sounds in Kid Pix once we upgraded to iMacs. In High School, a CS curriculum existed but hardly any interest or marketing the AP CS classes were made. HTML and web development classes started to make its way in late 90s.

Wow, I didn't know this was the same Graham as the Graham's Number[1].

I have to thank Watchmen series for educating me in something I knew nothing about before.
lolptdr··on Tech Interview Handbook
Thank you for your refreshing point of view. I'm a mid-level software developer and I was on the other side of the table as a junior web developer and encountered this same style of questioning and embraced it. This is my go-to style when interviewing because if you are confident in the lingo and zeitgeist of development, there is no way they can bullshit there way and lie through their teeth on their own experiences. It is very easy to tell. Whiteboarding doesn't give that detection since it is too broad of a spectrum to start as a indicator of experience.
lolptdr··on Albert Camus: Humanism and Tragedy
I don't understand. You say you can't experience anything that you own, but you are making a choice to decide that you can't have a choice. This is a circular dependency of logic.
lolptdr··on Show HN: An ad-free news website with crowdsourced summaries
A feature idea: intentionally include fake news links or fake facts (that you verified are fake of course) and add them to the website as you see fit. This will hopefully reduce bots and ill-mannered actors.
lolptdr··on Lee Iacocca Has Died
My dad had coverless version after moving to America, had no idea how important Iacocca was!
lolptdr··on Inheritance versus Composition
With all this angst against OOP, what other alternatives should a programmer consider or what patterns of hierarchical logic do people suggest?
lolptdr··on TLA+: design, model, document, and verify concurrent systems
I searched and found several instances of a similar link, but HN doesn't stop me from posting it. I'm guessing there's some decay algorithm or it's not checking sub-domains or deep-links.
lolptdr··on Ask HN: How do I solve my technical inadequacy and make the jump?
I want to reiterate the earlier commenter's words: focus. You seem to be spread thin amongst various roles in a typical software/tech company, from product manager/scrum master to developer. Hone your attention to what you really want and if you aren't sure, then start anywhere. You won't know until you try!

I'm not sure if LinkedIn is big in Australia but recruiters in America will scramble to you with offers for possible jobs if you update your profile with the latest tech and frameworks. Your non-standard background definitely will attract interest so give it a go.

lolptdr··on Clair Patterson: scientist and campaigner against lead poisoning (2017)
Bryson's book is a great read. Definitely weaves some of the monotonous details into a compelling story. I highly suggest people read this book if they like the highlights of natural and modern history and science.
lolptdr··on Ask HN: What books changed the way you think about almost everything?
Awesome, was hoping this book would show up. I only had to read the first 2 pages to know the whole of my philosophy summed up. It is not easy to read since it requires many analogous references to really apply it, but worth the effort. Definitely re-readable.
lolptdr··on Design Patterns for Managing Up
Perhaps you shouldn't allow handover of such responsibility or tasks. Force Person A to own task but allow Person B to assist Person A. Surely Person A won't mind help Frontera on B.
lolptdr··on “The Book of Why” by Pearl and Mackenzie
Why was it bad? I'm not an audiobook listener so I don't know what's considered bad.
