longcheng··on China's GDP Growth Pace Was Inflated for Nine Years, Study Finds
GDP is a number. I have relatives in China, and I visit China every year. I would say the average people in China live a better life than average Americans do here, and it's still constantly improving. Then, why don't I go back to China? My kids are getting education here, and they can not catch up back in China.
longcheng··on Beijing’s Three Options: Unemployment, Debt, or Wealth Transfers
I don't believe anyone's figure. I believe my eyes, and I see Made-in-China everywhere. I see US is freaking out and waging trade war.
longcheng··on Google Plans to Launch Censored Search Engine in China, Leaked Documents Reveal
Google envies the huge amount of data Baidu enjoys. In this AI/ML age, data is gold. China is the biggest gold mining field. If I were China government, I would block Google for its bluff made/called in 2010.
longcheng··on Google Plans to Launch Censored Search Engine in China, Leaked Documents Reveal
Trade War - US is barking and CN is ignoring.

Google - Google bluffed and CN called. Now Google seems to stop bluffing.

Maybe I am wrong, but it seems to be the case.

longcheng··on China using big data to detain people before crime is committed
China listens, and stops importing western recycle trashes to protect its environment, and the western countries panic.

You understand you are talking about two major nuclear powers, don't you?
longcheng··on The FBI, CIA and NSA say American citizens shouldn't use Huawei phones
The US government probably worries that Huawei could remotely blew the phone battery should US ever goes into a trade war with China, which is emergent ...

That's the only sense I can make out of this news. I would dump my Huawei if US government can expense it for me. It's hard to find such a high quality phone. [1]

longcheng··on Shanghai sets population at 25M
Let them keep their ignorance. I've decided to give up educating them for two reasons:

1) It's impossible for them to realize that China is a much better place than what western media depicts. It's even better than most western countries nowadays.

2) It's for China's benefits to keep them in thinking China still what China was 100 years ago.

Don't wake up them, let them live in their dreams.

longcheng··on Apple CEO backs China’s ‘open’ Internet vision as censorship reaches new heights
I am mature enough and proud to have a consistent view.
longcheng··on Apple CEO backs China’s ‘open’ Internet vision as censorship reaches new heights
so, facts are hurting you, right?
longcheng··on Apple CEO backs China’s ‘open’ Internet vision as censorship reaches new heights
Polluted air, polluted water, polluted food, hidden poverty, blah, blah, ... and yet China's life expectancy is only 3 year shorter than America's (76 vs 79), and China's population is 4 times as bigger as America's. I will have to say, good job Chinese government!
longcheng··on The time I was turned away from China
Sounds like he ruined his career covering China. Well deserved. Move on, and start another career covering India or whatever. Maybe China has become important enough that anyone who intends to mess her law within her border would think twice.
longcheng··on Amazon Is Becoming the New Microsoft
Is Amazon forcing shit-hunters to buy Chinese shit for cheap? You get what you pay. There are expensive high quality Chinese products whiners can't afford.
longcheng··on Fraud Scandals Sap China’s Dream of Becoming a Science Superpower
Please, nytimes, stop caring so much about China, because you don't. Let them cheat, and let them rot. The truth is China doesn't need the west as much as the west needs China. The west really wants to see China fail. But, Whatever happening in China is actually working. Even something is not working initially, Chinese are smart enough to figure them out themselves. Too bad the west can not force opium into China anymore.
longcheng··on China orders N.K. firms to close down within 120 days
Historically Korea had been a loyal vassal state of China for thousands of year. China had defended Korea against various barbarians from Mongolia plateau, Japan(multiple times) and America more recently.

The reason NK still exists is not USA's mercy or NK's nuke, it's because it's neighboring with China & Russia. Same thing applies to Vietnam.

longcheng··on Beijing is banning all foreign media from publishing online in China
please don't educate me on China. I was born there and much older than your 1988 roommates. China is not perfect, but it's way better than what western media depicts. On the other hand, you have to be political correct in every country, even in US ...
longcheng··on Beijing is banning all foreign media from publishing online in China
well, with this law, you got stability and can focus on things important. With 1 billion well educated ppl, I am not too worried about shortage of talent.
longcheng··on Beijing is banning all foreign media from publishing online in China
when I see China being the second to the last in the list, I have to say Beijing is doing the right thing to keep this kind of BS out of its boundary.
longcheng··on Beijing is banning all foreign media from publishing online in China
Chairman Mao once said, "our enemy would attack us with pen & gun". Looks like Beijing is taking the pen away from its enemy. :-)
longcheng··on Introducing the Keybase filesystem

longcheng··on As Beijing Becomes a Supercity, the Rapid Growth Brings Pains
Beijing is any thing but a city with "no schools, no parks, no services, and no culture"...

It's a city with thousands years of history, capital of 5+ ancient Chinese dynasties, top 2 leading China universities, Hollywood of China, ...

How ignorant could a person be to make a comment like above?

longcheng··on Statement from Edward Snowden in Moscow
good point.
longcheng··on Russian Satellite Hit by Debris from Chinese Anti-Satellite Test
I am wondering why the debris was not from US Anti-Satellite test? After all, US has done much more such tests secretly.
