Wouldn't this just make the number of packages that can be targeted smaller? E.g. I publish a testrunner that needs to install Headless Chrome if not present via postinstall. People trust me and put the package on their allowlist. My account gets compromised and a malicious update is published. People execute malicious code they have never vetted.

The ICE Wifi is using very exotic IPs for their gateway here, so this is not really Docker's fault.

I think a common approach would be using password-derived keys which would _not_ be stored on any server, but could still be used across multiple devices.

Genuine question: What's the most common and easy way of doing that at the moment?

Would E2EE really help in a scenario where the attacker gains account level access (as opposed to a database leak or similar)?

Unless data would be encrypted using a per device key (which would come with UX consequences I doubt Twitter would accept), anyone who gains access to the account would still be able to read and write DMs, even when they would be encrypted. Or do I miss something here?

Even if this hash would include a salt and the salt is rotated daily, you'd still be able to reverse information for the last day (there's an interesting doc by the European Union itself on that topic: https://edps.europa.eu/data-protection/our-work/publications...).

I feel most of these "privacy" focused analytics tools are mostly about working around the need for a cookie banner. I also don't get how they can continue to show off their public dashboards full of data that has been collected without user consent, boasting about how many hits they have.

Gives me the feeling "Privacy" is more of a marketing tactic here than a mission.
