madmaze··on Locust – Open-source Load Testing Tool
We've been successfully using locust for automated performance and load tests for a couple of years now. Locust is very flexible, the community is great and python-based test implementations are big win for engaging our quality engineers in test design and implementation.

Since our platform (Appian[0]) has a pretty heavy/complex client, we built a thin abstraction library [1] to empower both our quality engineers as well as some of our more advanced customers to write simple automated performance tests.

madmaze··on Show HN: Bamboolib – A GUI for Pandas (Python Data Science)
Looks great, but not a fan of the licensing model! $600/year for something thats 99% open source?

madmaze··on Ask HN: How Do You Read?
How do you structure your notes? I do the same, but I am often conflicted whether to take notes by chapter/section or by topic.
madmaze··on Tree of Life
I have fond memories working on an interactive visualization on a MS Surface table using this data. Great to see TOL still being used!
madmaze··on We are barely halfway done
I and many others spent basically all day there yesterday. It's fun to look through all of these manuals. It takes a lot of concentration picking out the unique copies and leaving the many copies behind. Especially HP.. arg so, so many revisions of the same manual.

Job Requirement: "You must be: Clever, competent and kind"

I wish more job descriptions were like this one. Straight and to the point, not much fluff or buzzword padding all over the place.

madmaze··on Ubuntu Edge price dropped to $695
point taken.
madmaze··on Ubuntu Edge price dropped to $695
I keep wondering whether they still have something up their sleeve, but judging by them dropping the price, its not the case. This is the pinnacle of Mark Shuttleworth's "convergence" dream, I wonder whether he will carry the rest of this campaign if it looks like it will not get funded in the end? Also if it does fail, it is going to look mighty bad for Canonical.
madmaze··on Ask HN: Why doesn't DigitalOcean support custom kernels?
Have you asked the Ops on IRC? #digitalocean on irc.freenode.net?
madmaze··on If you didn't cancel the credit card you used for linode.com, now is the time
Thanks, I was thankfully canceled my card. Is there anyone else here that has had their card compromised?

madmaze··on Germany is downgrading
not "that" cheap, my father currently pays 40 euros (~$50) for TV service and a 50/10 Mb/s connection in southern Germany. In comparison I pay $80 for 20/2 Mb/s Internet only. For me to add basic cable TV it would go up to $120
madmaze··on Germany is downgrading
I somewhat disagree with this article, at least from my experience. From my experience internet has always been cheaper, faster and more reliable than any time I have had a connecting on the US. I have mostly had experience with Kabel BW and Telekom.

For example in the US at the moment it costs me ~$80 for a reasonable cable connection from comcast 20Mb/s. I can expect my connection to go down for a few seconds/minutes about once a day and once or twice a month it'll be out for longer. I have had this and similar issues up and down the east coast in 5 different locations.

Maybe the experiences with Telekom in Frankfurt and with Kabel BW have been above the norm, but for I never/rarely had connectivity issues and it has always been much cheaper.

madmaze··on Running CUDA on Raspberry Pi
its likely for publicity, especially with Nvidia's GTC coming up next week
madmaze··on Running CUDA on Raspberry Pi
agree, also all around the same time of the post =P
madmaze··on Running CUDA on Raspberry Pi
True, but why not just run it on the host of the GPUs then? I guess the advantage would be on-demand GPUs.
madmaze··on Running CUDA on Raspberry Pi
This is quite interesting, though keep in mind that the RPi is talking to another machine to do its GPU computations. There are actually combination Nvidia GPU & ARM board like SECO's CARMA DevKit (http://shop.seco.com/carma-devkit.html) Which will actually run CUDA locally with out virtualization
madmaze··on Instructions for flashing a phone or tablet device with Ubuntu
I believe you may be confusing the "ubuntu" you are mentioning with the "ubuntu for phones" version of ubuntu.

madmaze··on Linode vs. DigitalOcean – performance benchmarks
In this article, DigitalOcean's virtualization technology is misstated.

Its KVM not VMware
