There is always consternation amongst modelers about where the next generation will come from, but the Gundam/Gunpla scene is supposedly very large in Japan and growing in the West.
I’ve heard that Mr Tamiya was very hands-on in choosing their topics for kits so it will be interesting to see how things change. But what a company he built!
Edit: here is the official Tamiya announcement https://www.tamiya.com/english/pressrelease/20250722/index.h...
I mainly only use it for text expansion, but it has served me well for years.
The big factors for me were:
- accountability/competitiveness with a friend where we texted after each row
- a plan to follow. Namely https://thepeteplan.wordpress.com/beginner-training/
One of my favs is searching “stunning x” to see the sad responses to attractive people posting selfies (NSFW if you choose to do it)
Maybe just reversing the result order would give more useful results?
> George R.R. Martin is not your bitch.
> This is a useful thing to know, perhaps a useful thing to point out when you find yourself thinking that possibly George is, indeed, your bitch, and should be out there typing what you want to read right now.
> People are not machines. Writers and artists aren't machines.
> You're complaining about George doing other things than writing the books you want to read as if your buying the first book in the series was a contract with him: that you would pay over your ten dollars, and George for his part would spend every waking hour until the series was done, writing the rest of the books for you.

There was a short queue to get in (~5 people stood 6 feet apart), but once inside there were very few customers compared to any other time I've been in the store. I got everything that was on my shopping list.
Of the things that I saw labelled as limited to a certain number per transaction, toilet paper was the only one that was completely out of stock (I didn't check hand sanitizer, but assume it was too). I got eggs, milk etc with no problems.
I spoke to the cashier and they said toilet paper sells out by 10am most days.
Here's the link if anyone would like to listen to some light-hearted discussion on the topic: https://www.omnibusproject.com/podcasts/the-d-day-crosswords...
The contact details were a 10-digit phone number which wasn't easy to remember, or to text a 5-digit number to a different 5-digit number. The specifics went in one ear and out the other. I was driving at the time, but I would have struggled to remember them long enough to find a pen if I was at home!
If instead, it was to call or text 988, then that would have been much more memorable! I hope this saves lives!
Ours had mesh sides which I think would allow breathing even if the baby managed to roll, so I'm not 100% what the dangerous scenario that triggered the recall could be.
Part of the problem is that my extended family are all overseas, and they want to see picture messages of her with the gifts they sent! They are understandably sad to missing out on these events themselves, so use gifts as a way to show their love.
My wife and I end up figuring out who would be least offended and putting those gifts aside for the next day. We have to make sure we don't forget though! We recently found some books on top of the fridge that were hastily hidden on Christmas day!
Other than being a little pricey, I don’t see any problem with Epic’s monetization strategy with Fortnite.
SC2 does not support LAN games so it’s all via Battle.net
If I was very keen, I guess I might pay a little to check more often than daily (although I haven't done that in this case).
It's really hard to get "good" (I've played on and off for 2-3 years and still don't feel competent!) but the matchmaking is good enough that you win about 50% of games.
I like that it's 1v1, so when you win or lose, it's usually completely your own doing.
I also like that you pay once and are on a level playing field with everyone else. All of the in-game purchases are purely cosmetic. I played Hearthstone for quite a while but eventually totaled up the amount I spent on it and promptly quit!
