mcormier··on CD box sets are wonderful
Vinyl is going to sound as good as the money you put into it. The needle is important, but so is your phono preamp.
mcormier··on Americans are underestimating how long disruptions will last, health experts say
The chinese are also using mass surveillance to keep the problem under control. You need to show a qr code on your phone that proves you are allowed out at many checkpoints.
mcormier··on A list of computer languages with release year and category
Or jobs?
mcormier··on WeWork and Counterfeit Capitalism
I like the way this Matt Stoller writes words. RSS feed subscribed.
mcormier··on Dieter Rams designed products to last, is horrified how we throw things away
He’s just implying cheap subcontracted labour from a foreign country where labour rates are lower.
mcormier··on Now Is the Perfect Time for an RSS Renaissance
You don’t have to worry about recursive entity definitions in JSON.
mcormier··on Married to someone with anxiety
No, 4 hours total. 2 hours each way.
mcormier··on Inside Facebook’s Decision to Blow Up the Like Button
There is a setting in Facebook to turn auto-play of video off.
mcormier··on The Log File Navigator
Been using multitail (http://www.vanheusden.com/multitail/) for a while now, this looks interesting. I'll put it on my radar.
mcormier··on The Book of Life
The chapters are longer than you think, they have sub sections: Chapter 1 ... http://www.thebookoflife.org/category/capitalism/ Chapter 2 ... http://www.thebookoflife.org/category/work/

The design is nice and clean but the navigation is unclear between these sub-chapters.

mcormier··on Xiki: The Command Revolution
Looks like. I have little faith that this guy will be able to implement it from what I saw.
mcormier··on Xiki: The Command Revolution
Thanks but I'll stick with fish shell. http://fishshell.com/
mcormier··on Letting go
I agree. I didn't read the whole thing but couldn't a point to the post. Yeah, you're semi-famous for being an indie mac developer. Yeah, you've posted in the past that you have mental problems.

Is this the correct place to blather on about this? Go have coffee with a friend.

mcormier··on How Americans Die
Looks like d3 (http://d3js.org/) with some jquery to me. Viewing the source supports that.
mcormier··on How 'DevOps' Is Killing The Developer
Sounds like DevOps is new and like Agile isn't always implemented as intended once it gets into the wild at companies. I've experience Agile and Enterprise Agile at companies where meetings are called scrums but are 50 minutes long. Sound like there is DevOps and Enterprise DevOps, or some other bastardization occurring out in the wild. Oh process, oh process, save me from these hardships.
mcormier··on A nation of slaves
Yeah, I haven't read this article yet. I got whisked away on an article referenced at the beginning of this one and my world view imploded.

mcormier··on A nation of slaves
Thank you for clarifying. Too often North Americans state "it's like this in Europe", without researching what the actual facts are like. I have Uncles who are still quoting facts that are 30 years old and may never have been accurate to begin with ;)
mcormier··on On GitHub’s image proxy
Don't build your business model on something where you are dependent on something you can't control. If you decide to anyway then walk away when the honeymoon is over.
mcormier··on Hackers Leak Walmart’s Guide on How to Silence Workers
You're looking at the wrong slideshow:

http://www.docdroid.net/file/view/86ln/manager-training.pdf

http://occupywallst.org/article/point-of-public-information/

The articles aren't organized well, and you have to click around to find the actual info.

mcormier··on Kit Kat Conspiracy (2002)
Who cares. This line was brilliant:

"I plan on purchasing an adequate amount of, "KIT KAT," product while I am here in Japan to run double-blind taste trials when I return to US, as I have done with some European and Canadian product in the past. I will inform you of the results of these trials."

mcormier··on Complaint-Driven Development
Yeah. Jeff didn't do what the customers wanted and he's smart enough to not let users sway the design. I think the issue here is that it is a potential pitfall that should have garnered a sentence or two for less experienced people that read the article.
mcormier··on Editorially is shutting down
From looking at Penflip, it looks like it was a way for a writer and editor to collaborate before publishing.
mcormier··on Ask HN: best courses free or otherwise
Thanks, that is very helpful. I like to listen to courses while I'm making breakfast in the morning. A bunch of quizzes would be quite annoying.
mcormier··on Ask HN: best courses free or otherwise
Could you be more specific? Is there anything you've watched that is worth viewing? Not all free courses are out there are equal. Sometimes the audio is distorted, and the presenter isn't so good at relaying material or enthusiasm for the material.
mcormier··on How to Create Your Own Git Server
Been doing this for quite some time. I found the following blog posts very useful when I was learning how to do this.

mcormier··on Microsoft please clean your store of junk
As much as Apple's review process and curating can be a pain in the ass. This definitely shows the other end of the spectrum and what happens if you don't have any reviewing.
mcormier··on Developing Good Software is Damn Hard
Am I the only one that thinks writing a blog post and then submitting it yourself to a meta site is kinda lame?
mcormier··on SoundCloud Raises $60 Million at $700 Million Valuation
YouTube is good for previewing but the audio quality is horrible. 128 and the algorithm for compression makes a lot of things sound washed out.
mcormier··on Thirty Years of Mac [video]
Here is an article you should read...

mcormier··on Sleeping with Your Gadgets On
I can vouch for deadlifts putting you to sleep as that is part of my regular routine. 30-40 reps of Turkish Get-ups at 25% of your body weight is also very effective.
