  Résumé/CV: https://milancermak.com/Milan-Cermak-CV.pdf

I can build products from scratch and operate them in production with hundreds of thousands of users. I am reliable, detail oriented, and a fast learner. I enjoy leading a team, but I'm equally happy working autonomously. I'm looking for a growing company filled with smart people.
mcxx··on Ask HN: Who wants to be hired? (July 2020)

  Location: Berlin
Remote: Yes, only remote positions please
  Willing to relocate: No
Technologies: Python, iOS, Ruby, JS, AWS, serverless
  Resume: https://milancermak.com
  Email: milan.cermak@gmail.com
I'm an experienced SW engineer bad at marketing myself. I have built and been part of various projects, from iOS apps, HTTP APIs to CRUD web apps and ETL pipelines. On the ducktape hack --- perfect code spectrum, I'm more to the right, but I understand trade-offs and when to accept them. I enjoy team-leading and teaching/training less experienced team members. I'm always interested in the broader picture, how does software engineering fit into it and how I can help.

I'm looking for a high growth startup filled with smart people who know how to get stuff done.

mcxx··on Ask HN: Who is hiring? (May 2013)
I sent you an email last month, applying for the lead iOS engineer, but no one replied. Are you still hiring for that position? Alternatively, would you consider a candidate without node.js experience?
mcxx··on How Google's Self-Driving Car Works
Constantly updated Street view. Also, they could map all the roads of the world this way.
mcxx··on LikeALittle's Ridiculous Hacker House
The LAL designer posts some stories and photos here http://musho.posterous.com/ (unfortunately, it's in Slovak only).
mcxx··on Ask HN: Who is Hiring? (May 2011)
Prague or Brno, Czech Republic

We're a small but fast growing mobile dev studio. We have one well funded, in house project with global focus and presence in SV plus a couple of smaller ones. We're seeking mobile (Android, iOS, Windows Phone 7) & back-end (Python) developers. No prior experience necessary, just show us you're a good programmer, willing to learn and work hard. Contact us at hello@wildfuse.com

mcxx··on Ask HN: Who's hiring in Europe?
Wildfuse (http://wildfuse.com) in Prague and soon in Brno (CZ).
mcxx··on Yuri Milner Uses Anybot to Announce Funding for Every Y Combinator Startup
As if the announced funding wasn't enough, by using an Anybot to do it, Yuri is my personal superhero.
mcxx··on Salesforce Buys Heroku (YC W08) For $212 Million In Cash
If every Heroku employee would get an equal share from the restricted stock, that means ~ $1M in Salesforce shares per employee. Congrats!
mcxx··on HackFwd
Why the downvote? I'm just asking questions I'm genuinely interested in.
mcxx··on HackFwd
Will the angles invest pre-seed/seed money? Will they invest in teams not in France?
mcxx··on My Y Combinator interview.
Yeah, too bad the application deadline for Techstars NY was closed couple of hours ago. I suggested Openfund because it's also based in Greece, but it's Pan European.
mcxx··on My Y Combinator interview.
Have you considered applying to The Openfund (http://theopenfund.com/) or HackFWD (http://hackfwd.com/)?
mcxx··on Joe Stump: Your city sucks (And so does mine)
Can someone please write the pros and cons for NY and LA?
mcxx··on At OhLife (YC S10), daily e-mails motivate a new wave of online diarists
I'd appreciate this feature. I reply to OhLife's emails way past 20.00, usually around midnight.
mcxx··on Startmate applications now open
You need a webcam to fill out the application form. I assume they want to see how founders react to the questions first-hand, but it seems weird, like someone is spying on you.
mcxx··on Ask HN: Best Developer Linux Laptop?
I on the other hand love the touchpad. It taught me not to use the mouse anymore (and I was a hardcore mouse person before).
mcxx··on Ask HN: Best Developer Linux Laptop?
I use an Asus UL-30 and recommend it - great keyboard and touchpad, long battery life, lightweight, good display, no problems with Ubuntu.
mcxx··on YC Series AA Equity Financing Documents
Can you please explain how/why did it save you money?
mcxx··on Ask HN: Would you pay for email?
Email has been free since the beginning. People are used to it, that's why I think senders would hate having to use it, even boycott the service. It would also set a dangerous precendence that email doesn't have to be free.
mcxx··on Ask HN: Would you pay for email?
Cool, so a) it works and b) at least some people are already used to it.
mcxx··on Smiley: An app in 24 hours
My friends built something similar - NiceReply http://nicereply.com/

It was originally custom built in their webhosting company, but now they've created a standalone product out of it. NiceReply has API, so you can integrate it in any CRM you're already using. It's really cool, check it out.

mcxx··on Ask HN: What problem does Foursquare/Gowalla/Places solve?
Sure I can live without most things that solve a problem, but that's not the point. I want to understand if there's some added value for the users, why would they start (and continue) using it in the first place. Jerome_etienne gave a good answer, but you also made a good point with the "invented needs". On the other hand, I'm not sure that can last for more than a couple of years on its own. Users flock to the next hot thing all the time.
mcxx··on OhLife: A Personal Journal You Might Actually Keep Updating
I've been using OhLife for some time now and really like it. Since the sign-up I never visited the webpage, all my interaction with the service is done through the email. This is absolutely brilliant. Every day, before I go to sleep, I reply to the "how did your day go" email, looking back at the day. It also improved my writting. Great work guys!
mcxx··on Islands in lakes in islands in lakes ...
But then you'd have to use 3 ferries to get there.
mcxx··on Not Pixel Perfect Yet
It was built as a FB page because it was easy and fast to create. They know it is not the best solution, but does it works for now.
mcxx··on Google Coders Need To Go On An HTML Diet
GMail is.
mcxx··on Ask HN: How fast is your site? (A short bootstrap story)
I love that you accept mail, twitter and phone for launch notification.
mcxx··on Ask HN: How do you begin the process of developing a web application?
That's funny, I checked that term just 2 days ago. Are you building some website monitoring tool?
mcxx··on Best time of day to submit to HackerNews
It seems HN never sleeps.
