meow··on Android Game Development Tutorials
Does any one have any good tutorials on developing using unity 3d for android platform. The ones I googled so far suck :(
meow··on Show HN: DesignDuke - a WYSIWYG editor for styling and re-using web widgets
Actually we have plans to make it a standalone application (like jsfiddle) where signup will be needed only to save and reuse widgets.
meow··on Show HN: DesignDuke - a WYSIWYG editor for styling and re-using web widgets
We built this for internal use while working on a different startup product. Looking forward to some feedback :)

Why are these threads getting killed so often ?

Wow, this must have taken a long time to put together. I think he makes a very fine point when he says browsers must have a part to play in fixing this.
meow··on Introduction to ASP.NET Web API
This looks very noisy after using NancyFx (https://github.com/NancyFx/)
meow··on OMGPOP CEO tweets: "Shay Pierce was the weakest employee on the team"
Looks like he would fit very well with Zynga.
meow··on Creating Victims And Then Blaming Them
But any such app is just an UI for presenting the data available for everyone. What if this app is just a open source UI with instructions on how to fit your own API key ? Finding and penalizing such apps would serve nothing.

The only solution to this is awareness on the users part and nothing else.

meow··on All April Fools' Day Jokes on the Web Are Here (so they don't clutter HN)
This is just an example of how not to do an April fools day joke. These guys are posting the feedback they collected back to their server which I think is immoral.

meow··on The truth about Scala
well it does say "happy april fools day the end" :)
meow··on Poll: What Would It Take For You To Switch To Blackberry?
If blackberry could fork/use Android and promise prompt upgrades. This will be good for both developers and users.
meow··on #1 CSRF Is A Vulnerability In All Browsers
Yes it wont be able to read it. But that's not what they are after. What they do want is to execute some user action on the server side. So this action would have taken place just by executing the GET/POST request.
meow··on Apple’s war on Android gets major blow in the form of 1994 “future tablet” video
"Unfortunately for Samsung while elements of the iPad design shows up the Galaxy pad is a lot closer to the iPad than any of the other designs. For design patents to be meaningful they must prevent such overt imitation and force competitors to do more than copy good design."

I don't think that would matter if the design it self is generic - not an innovation (as in this case) and hence the patent it self can be considered as invalid.

meow··on 10 Million hits a day with Wordpress using a $15 server
Wish there is an Amazon AMI with your config... Much better than doing things from scratch :)
meow··on Why did Objective-C never catch on? (Ask Slashdot, Aug 2000)
"they don't 'force it on you' by the way, as you can easily use C or C++ for anything except interfacing with Obj-C frameworks"

Unfortunately, since most of the popularity is due to iOS applications - developers have to touch these frameworks at one point or another and that means touching at least a tiny bit of ObjC

meow··on From MIT, a cure for all viruses?
So is DRACO itself a kind of virus ? How does it visit all the cells...
meow··on Shitter: Toilet Paper of Tweets
Now rest room breaks are going to be way longer... there was a project sometime back trying to do the same with SOPA/PIPA bill text :)

meow··on ASP.NET MVC, Web API, Razor and Open Source
You have a valid point there :)
meow··on ASP.NET MVC, Web API, Razor and Open Source
Considering that most startups fail for reasons other than technical (running out of money, lack of traction, founders moving on) I don't think any correlation will be that meaningful. It will be interesting see a plot of the type of the startup (social, b2b, retail etc) versus the stack though :)
meow··on ASP.NET MVC, Web API, Razor and Open Source
Not to mention, most startups either fail in 3 years or (hopefully) be in a position to pay for the extra servers.
meow··on Notepad++ 6.0 Released
+1 for the speed. Not many IDEs seem to care for that any more. Especially most java based IDEs. They feel so sluggish even for the most rudimentary of tasks (opening menus, launching, closing, autocomplete etc)
meow··on Microsoft Censors Pirate Bay Links in Windows Live Messenger
But the aim of Microsoft's messenger is not to prevent intellectual property theft.. especially when the users are under the impression that it is to facilitate private communications..
meow··on Poll: What's Your Favorite Programming Language?
You should try NancyFx (https://github.com/NancyFx/Nancy) some time. Its a light weight web framework. Simple and beautiful.
meow··on Poll: What's Your Favorite Programming Language?
Writing C# code in Visual Studio feels almost like telepathy. Intellisense is so good that, it nearly writes 30-40% of total code.
meow··on PhantomJS 1.5 released (headless WebKit with JavaScript API)
I usually use another controller program to launch it with required data..
meow··on Paul Graham has lost the plot
Exception ?

MongoDB, Wordpress (and all other blogging frameworks), MySQL, the list keeps going... they are out there for free because the creators figured out a way for it to be free why still getting paid (service contracts in most cases).. Being free didn't even reduce their quality (it probably enhanced it)...

meow··on Paul Graham has lost the plot
Piracy is a reality in app stores. But you don't see developers running around to sue people downloading pirated copies. That's because they acknowledged that these people won't pay them and focus their efforts on people who do pay them. Most of the apps even have free versions just so that users can sample they app and judge it for them selves before buying it. All these are adaptations to the environment in which they operate. Content industry on the other hand refuses to adapt.
meow··on Paul Graham has lost the plot
Also people like the convenience of choosing and sampling from a large catalog of songs/media while paying only for things they really like. That is why flat rate streaming services are popular. $0.99 in content industry's eyes might be very low and already accessible price. But its too high for consumer who probably listens to it once a month while sampling a lot of songs - one more reason why flat rate streaming is the way to go....
meow··on SOPA and PIPA return as toilet paper
Don't forget to send Lamar Smith some free samples. He definitely earned them.
meow··on Customize Gmail's Buttons: Replace Icons With Text
They should have colored the spam button red. I fumble a lot with these new buttons. I don't understand why the designers are against color in the new interface. It's like watching a bad CGI movie or a video game with no details where every surface looks bland gray or dark...
