mflindell··on Solid aims to radically change the way web applications work
sorry

its not entirely false though, he has expressed regret in the past about how it worked out. the web isn't really a great idea but it caught on anyway. arguably its been the cause of a new scams, hacks and certain politicians getting into office.

you might be confusing user interface with graphic design
mflindell··on Google introduces fact checking feature to help people see if news is true
This is awesome, I am currently building something very similar i call "probably", which is a chrome plugin that tells you if a site/story is either "probably true" or "probably bullshit".
mflindell··on Pokemon Go Has FULL Access to Your Google Account
Its just access to all your google account info, not your connected apps. Its the same permissions that you would give to Google Maps.
mflindell··on HARC
To make people smart enough to know whats good for themselves.
mflindell··on HARC
Infosys wants to be in on this project because its simply a good idea. Vishal is also very good friends with Alan.
mflindell··on HARC
I don't think they ran out of money, from the final report is sounds like they just finished the research project. VPRI is just moving to ycom now.
mflindell··on HARC
The point is to make less laypeople
mflindell··on [dead]
Down for me too, might actually be a good thing! Unscheduled downtime is good for productivity

mflindell··on Alan Kay – Normal Considered Harmful (2009) [video]
I was worried about that too but I'm sure someone with a degree in biology would have figured that out, right? Pretty sure its meant as a metaphor

mflindell··on Tesla Energy
Dont count on it, we also get the product release lag for things like this too. Buying a Tesla Car here is at least double what it is in the US too.
mflindell··on Ask HN: Where might a fundamental rethink of operating systems lead?
Exactly like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pUoBSC3uoeo
mflindell··on AusPost opens US-based mail forwarding service
This sounded like a good idea until I signed up and saw the service costs $30 to ship a book! Not quite sure its worth it yet.
mflindell··on Remember when Apple made fun of big screens with the iPhone 5 ad?
This ad just seems like its saying that bigger screens are common sense?
mflindell··on Freelancer keeps degrading the coder experience
I agree, I will personally help if it means Matt Barrie gets knocked around a little bit.
mflindell··on Ask HN: Anyone else seeing the new Google search results style?
Its kind of weird to hear people talk about ads. I have had adblock installed for so long I have totally forgot what ads are like on my lapotp. When I use other peoples computers/phones its totally alarming how much advertising there is on the web.

Can you post a picture for us that don't see ads?

mflindell··on Show HN: Verbate – Social proof with video
I would really love feedback on our new site. Its been a long haul since building Vimily.com and we have refined like hell to get to this point. Thanks everyone!
mflindell··on Dashboard Metrics that Actually Work
Although I figured it out, the url you provided doesnt "actually work". Nice article though!
mflindell··on Stripe adds multiple account support
Thanks Mr G
mflindell··on Stripe adds multiple account support
Interesting, Im in Australia and I have had this feature in Stripe for a few days already from when I signed up. The only issue I have had is that I cant find where to delete accounts. Otherwise, congrats to the Stripe team!
mflindell··on Space Farming: The Final Frontier
Well we know that now, they wouldn't know whats behind the ocean back then. Remember the idea that the earth was flat?

At the moment we are at a point in time where we cant see the end of space but there might be another "ocean" at the end, who knows!

mflindell··on Mindstorms: Children, Computers and Powerful Ideas [1993]
This is probably the most important book I have read in my entire life.

The book started out talking about how to teach children programming but for me it was more an adventure into how adults minds work and how computers can be powerful tools to shape society.

Check out some of Marvin Minskys work too, its really eye opening but in a different kind of way.

mflindell··on Space Farming: The Final Frontier
I'm sure back a few hundred years, sailors would have claimed that the other side of the ocean is the final frontier. Seems like just a way of looking at it to entice people into believing in a cause.
mflindell··on AutoDesk Releases An Electronics Simulator Called 123D Circuits
They really went out of their way to try and rip of Github, it seems like a lot of sites now would rather copy it because developers are used to the design.
mflindell··on Space Farming: The Final Frontier
Why is everything always the final frontier? Its kind of depressing that they said that space is the FINAL frontier. Does that mean we have nothing to aspire to after that? Now apparently the new "final frontier" is lettuce.
mflindell··on Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky” is Taken From a Korean Pop Star’s Song
How come Daft Punk was able to write the song 3 years before this guy released the video?
