miffe··on Pentium II at 600Mhz with Voodoo 3 Emulated on 86Box with M6 Mac Mini
Never understood why it was "Classic"? Since it was the new version after the Quake mod.

They where released just 6 months apart [0], [1]. I'll take the "lower" quality quake 3D models over Duke 3Ds 2D sprites any day :)

miffe··on A surprise with how '#!' handles its program argument in practice
Seems like it only works in zsh, not bash or fish

Thank you!
miffe··on Geocities Backgrounds
Anyone remember a software to generate images such as these?

I think it was called something like Terralogic Texture Maker (ttm.exe) and I've been looking for it for years.

miffe··on NonRAID – fork of unRAID array kernel module
What makes this different from regular md? I'm not familiar with unRAID.
miffe··on Most people who buy games on Steam never play them
What tracker? I need something like this, I've around 1600 games on steam and need a way to keep track.

miffe··on Ask HN: What are good high-information density UIs (screenshots, apps, sites)?
Do an image search for SCADA, they are the most information dense systems I've ever worked with.
miffe··on Suno v4.5
Still not able to generate a "Italo disco, sea shanty". Me and my friends have been trying since v3 somthing.
miffe··on Honey Bunnies
Wish it had a fps limiter so I could see what's going on.
miffe··on Ratzilla
Really needs a framerate limiter, at 360 Hz it's just a flickering mess.
miffe··on FamiTracker free windows tracker for producing music for the NES/Famicom-systems
If you want something more advanced, check out Furnace tracker. It supports nearly every 8/16 bit sound chip. And you can combine them in the same song.

So if you ever wanted to do a track combining a Mega Drive with a NES; it is possible.

miffe··on UltimateAntiCheat
It's pretty common. Valve is now banning certain keyboards from CS2.
miffe··on Firedancer: Language for 2D shmups bullet-hell patterns
Seems to be vsync-based. Would make the laundry pattern very hard at 360Hz :)
miffe··on The Linux audio stack demystified
Yeah, IMHO the best audio linux has ever was with OSS v3 and a soundcard that did hardware mixing. No software mixers like ESD or ARtS were needed.

miffe··on VDEv2: Virtual Distributed Ethernet
I wish this had a way to hook up to a Hyper-V Virtual Switch. That way I could get 86box on a the network reliably, SLiRP and PCap works badly imho.

Anyone knows where the API docs for hyper-v virtual switch is?

miffe··on NexDock turns your smartphone into a laptop
I've wanted to try one of these together with my steamdeck for a long time.

Do they offer international key layouts yet (Swedish specifically)?

Also i find the dimensions a bit funny, 320x240 :)

miffe··on Running DOS Apps on Windows from 1.0 to 95 (2020)
A bit off topic, but does anyone know if you can do asynchronous disk access somehow in dos?

I'm writing a game and it would be nice to load resources for the next level in the background.

Finally! I hope they do the same for the X-series, so I can justify the upgrade from my old X280.
