It can definitely be targeted: behind enemy lines, or in the occupied territory with selective access to antibiotics. Population migration can be enforced coercively too.
This is the same regime pulling stunts like this [0] and threatening nuclear war, absolutely would not be surprised.

Ever wonder what a country waging a grinding siege war could do with a plague lab?
That’s keeping me up. Threaten nukes and deploy the plague to show you aren’t kidding.
There was a news story yesterday about the Ukrainian government using drones to airlift medicine to occupied territories that have been cut off from pharmaceutical supply chains (the occupation forces said they would figure it out, but didn’t)
In both cases, someone ran some software that maybe called other software that ended up doing an action which was possibly illegal.
Downloading journal articles is worthy of punishment but compromising multiple websites is worthy of… heady press coverage?
I remember lots of people talking about running agents in VMs or on whole dedicated machines, yet barely anyone talking about how they were using mundane OS access controls.
But sometimes I personally forget that it’s allowed and enjoyable to just read 20 mins here and there…
That kind of rhetoric is typically only employed when you’re in some great struggle, and the sacrifices made are supposed to be offset by a greater good.
In this trade war the struggle was completely avoidable and you chose it for yourself. Now you’re deploying the belt tightening home front rhetoric.
I’m going to be a little naughty and stop the constructive discourse to say: HOLY MOTHER OF COPE!
I never had problems with cyberpunk but I think I know why: I built a new PC right around its release and it was good enough to play it smoothly on 4K medium or HD ultra.
When I checked to see what 4K ultra looked like, the graphics latency caused a bunch of scripting to fall apart and the game glitched really bad.
IIRC the console release was notorious for bugs, so I assume consoles were not performant enough to run the game buttery smooth nor could they be easily upgraded.
Yet all those stories in all their forms still sell today, and still impress people.
Not worrying about unoriginality frees you to just enjoy yourself… and just maybe do something original.
We already had that, it was called crypto mining. Profit motive has taken care of that already
Used to take me maybe 10-20 minutes per sheet.
Then I got codex to whip up a script that sends each sheet to a fairly low parameter locally running LLM and I have the yaml in a couple seconds.
My dream is to bootstrap myself to local productivity with providers… I know I’ll never get there because hedonic treadmill etc, but I do feel there’s lots more juice to squeeze. I just need to invest more time into AI engineering…
Actually, this happens already in a modular way AFAIK…
The industrial heritage is strong.
But yes, transliterated Russian doesn’t look quite right- rather cumbersome- and I assume the same would hold true for a Polish Cyrillic.
Not saying engineered beer is necessarily bad- Sapporo and Asahi never disappoint- but I imagine you would want to stick to unfiltered and unpasteurized to retain some of the more… alive compounds.
Of course, that never happened for months, years until the one day I went in wearing cargo pants and a gothy synth band shirt and was greeted by a delegation of executives from out of town engaging everyone in small talk…
Y’all MFs unable to address the replication crisis, and getting me pissed
The great philosophical question is why CLT applies so universally. The article explains it well as a consequence of the averaging process.
Alternatively, I’ve read that natural processes tend to exhibit Gaussian behaviour because there is a tendency towards equilibrium: forces, homeostasis, central potentials and so on and this equilibrium drives the measurable into the central region.
For processes such as prices in financial markets, with complicated feedback loops and reflexivity (in the Soros sense) the probability mass tends to ends up in the non central region, where the CLT does not apply.
>8 Cores and 16 processing threads, based on AMD "Zen 5" architecture
which is the same thread geometry as my 9900K.
My main concerns at the time were:
1. More cores for running large workloads on k8s since I had just upgraded to 128G RAM
2. More thread level parallelism for my C++ code
Naively I thought that, ceteris paribus and assuming good L1 cache utilization, having more physical cores with a higher clock rate would be the ticket for 2.
Does the 9800X3D have a wider pipeline or is it some other microarchitectural feature that makes it faster?
AFAIK they still dominate on clock rate, which I was surprised to see when doing some back of the envelope calculations regarding core counts.
I felt my 8 core i9 9900K was inadequate, so shopped around for something AMD, and IIRC the core multiplier of the chip I found was dominated by the clock rate multiplier so it’s possible that at full utilization my i9 is still towards the best I can get at the price.
Not sure if I’m the typical consumer in this case however.
Never tried that level of autonomy though. How long is your iteration cycle?
If I had to guess, mine was maybe 10-20 minutes over a few prompts.
