> So why aren't the frontier labs freaking out right now?

They are. Isn’t this why they’re trying to get regulatory capture?

Well it will only get better now that the “Code is no longer a constraint”! AI can just do everything for them now. https://youtu.be/zFslvuvYifQ?si=sEN270fkICYSpaLU

Terrible! Source?

Nostalgic maybe, but not sure it qualifies as beautiful.

I know this is targeted at game dev, but I wonder if this would work well for a huge MS Access app.

I’m glad people are looking into this because I do think it’s the future. However, why would you not take advantage of the heavily subsidized frontier models while you can. It’s obvious that they’re gonna have to raise prices at which point it might make sense to consider local models, but not today.

What do people get out of this kind of spam? How does having AI regurgitate another post (https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=48553975) benefit them?

> No body who has a choice is using Grok

The Grok app had over 100 million downloads in 2025, over 60 million active users, and generated $350 million in revenue. That’s a lot of people being forced to use it.

Digital currency can help control you. Imagine negative inflation based on your social score.

Same. I have been using it all morning, no issues.

So you’ll just not use Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, or Android? In other words, you’ll just not use any computers? Seems nonsensical.

Not my experience. I have iPad Pro and I only use it for workouts. It sits on my workout machine and once or twice a week I try to watch a ~45 min episode while doing cardio. It’s always dead and needs constant charging. Never last more than 3 days without needing charging.

But Electron doesn’t hit that bar even

> Designed exclusively for tracking objects, and not people or pets, the new AirTag incorporates…

Interesting to call out that it’s not designed for pets. I know several people with AirTags on their pet collars.

Lots of things people might want to monitor for such as nail biting.

I’ve looked at jj, but couldn’t make sense of the proposed benefits. I always stage individual files and never the entire working directory, so I’m confused how it improves that over git.

> An IndyCar is heavier than a Formula 1 car: while a Formula 1 car weighs 1759 pounds / 798 kg including the driver, an IndyCar weighs 1700 pounds / 771 kg on road and street courses, excluding the driver.

This seems to contradict itself.

How are all these chat app funded?

Isn’t idea of insurance at odds with the idea of a pre-existing condition? Like car insurance is a hedge against a crash. We don’t let people buy it after totaling their car.

We really need an alternative system to cover pre-existing and not force it into insurance.

I suppose they could take their enterprises with them. Removing jobs and taxes from the local economy.

I love the idea of this. Keep perfectly working things from being made obsolete artificially. They should look at the old Nest Protect next.

> At its core, Omarchy embraces Linux . . . makes a version of it that is accessible and fun to use for developers that don’t have a deep background in operating systems.

Maybe one company should not be able to decide which browsers we are allowed to use.

The zoomed in view is great if you’re commonly examining under magnification, but perhaps a slightly less zoomed view (or ability to switch between each) might make this more practical for common folks.

We are are migrating back to Docker org-wide after 5 months on Podman.

Insane that their official docs suggest running some Xcode project to start your VM. It seems like such a powerful feature might have a better UI.

I actually don’t want the Windows aesthetic, but for my older family members, I recommend Linux Mint. For those more technical who still prefer a Windows-like UX, stock Ubuntu with ArcMenu w/ Eleven layout and Dash to Panel with Windows 11 Theme & Icon pack.

I don’t think we need a study to understand that someone who always gets everything they want is usually a spoiled brat.

They had electronics and legos, not just models and hot wheels. I think they’d have adapted like most businesses have.

Low carb has been a “trend” for 20+ years with the Atkins Diet and keto for over 10 years now (although it’s from the 1920s).
