I don't really know if I like professional programming. I really do it just to pay the bills!

Cheers
misterflibble··on Quake – 30th Anniversary Update
I love it and with the original music it's even better, especially the levels in the second chapters hub

I think it's a lot easier to run mods with the Linux source ports and so far I've had no issues running arcane dimensions (AD).

To run that mod from a CLI with most source ports, you just need to make sure that you specify a path to your original Quake .PAK files and set the -gamedir to the path of your AD mod folder.

I downloaded the arcane dimensions mod from here: https://www.moddb.com/mods/arcane-dimensions/downloads/arcan...

I hope that helps!

Hahhahahahhaa
misterflibble··on AI may be making us think and write more alike
I reckon you've hit the nail on the head and if you haven't done already, you should write your thoughts into a blog post. It is great to read someone's ponderings about the state of the industry and corporate uptake of LLMs
misterflibble··on AI may be making us think and write more alike
Lol that triggered me too!
misterflibble··on AI may be making us think and write more alike
That's terrific lol thanks for the link BTW!
misterflibble··on AI may be making us think and write more alike
Yes true! It's everywhere now!
misterflibble··on AI may be making us think and write more alike
Yes checking and validation is one thing, but there are several engineers in my area that only communicate using agent copy paste. I challenged one fellow about that and he was furious!
misterflibble··on AI may be making us think and write more alike
Definitely see our internal company agents enforcing the status quo!
misterflibble··on AI may be making us think and write more alike
I think corporations will start penalizing first, they're already doing that to some extent at my work because they want their in-house agents to only review our PRs.
misterflibble··on AI may be making us think and write more alike
Yes exactly and I am actively applying for jobs. But I feel like the next job will also have this nonsense behaviour
misterflibble··on AI may be making us think and write more alike
No that's why I'm complaining
misterflibble··on AI may be making us think and write more alike
That's exactly what he does...wtf are you spying on me?? Lol but seriously, I don't know how to handle his AI delegation
misterflibble··on AI may be making us think and write more alike
The scary thing is that AI decision making has been infiltrating society for decades as an unseen entity.
misterflibble··on AI may be making us think and write more alike
Subtly? I beg to differ. My team leader only communicates to me using his LLM and so his "thoughts" are not his own!
misterflibble··on Don't post generated/AI-edited comments. HN is for conversation between humans
I'm perfectly content to post my poorly spelt words and grammatical errors to authenticate myself. But I know everyone it's probably using the AI filter now. Why don't we just do AI bot to AI bot communications for everything? I'm kidding I would not like that
misterflibble··on Ask HN: What are you working on? (April 2025)
Hey thank you for the excellent tips! I really appreciate it!
misterflibble··on Ask HN: What are you working on? (April 2025)
Please keep posting updates about this because if I could instantly fire up a game in my browser, I would definitely pay for that and play with it all day!
misterflibble··on Ask HN: What are you working on? (April 2025)
Can I ask what prerequisite mathematics you would need to know before reading those? I'm really interested in that topic and better understanding functional programming.
misterflibble··on Modern-Day Oracles or Bullshit Machines? How to thrive in a ChatGPT world
Thank you @ctbergstrom for this valuable and most importantly, objective, course. I'm bookmarking this and sharing it with everyone.
misterflibble··on How I failed to make a game: Raycasting on the GBA
I was thinking the same thing and actually thought they should continue building it. It looks like a great game!
misterflibble··on Sony Turns to AI to Tackle Rising Animation Costs and Animator Shortage

misterflibble··on AnandTech Farewell
Yes I remember reading one of those SSD articles about mlcs and it was so well written, quality knowledge captured on the internet. I hope someone starts up another anandtech like website
misterflibble··on Ask HN: What books should I read to improve as a software engineer?
I'm eager to hear other opinions on Eric's DDD book too :-D I still don't understand it!
misterflibble··on Diffusion models are real-time game engines
Don't give them ideas lol terrifying stuff if that happens!
misterflibble··on LINQPad – The .NET Programmer's Playground
Thank you for LINQPad and for your terrific presentations. They've certainly helped me build up my confidence in .NET development!
misterflibble··on LINQPad – The .NET Programmer's Playground
I wish we could volunteer to help Joe make LINQPad cross-platform, I'd definitely like to help with that.
misterflibble··on LINQPad – The .NET Programmer's Playground
Yes I saw the REPL in VS 2022 and Jetbrains Rider, but I still prefer having this utility at hand with a collection of scripts ready whenever I need to script up something, or experiment with a service or database, or learn something new in .NET.
misterflibble··on LINQPad – The .NET Programmer's Playground
LINQPad is probably the most useful mini-IDE that I've ever used and I employ it every single day for .NET prototyping, scripting and experimenting. Joe Albahari's done a great thing with this utility!
