mitmads··on One hospital charges $8,000 — another, $38,000
"a health system that can set prices with impunity because consumers rarely see them — and rarely shop for discounts"
mitmads··on Words That Last
Sorry, didn't know of the original post.
mitmads··on Words That Last

mitmads··on The Power of ‘I Don’t Know’
"It’s that implicit I don’t know at the heart of Montaigne’s essays — his frankness about being a foolish, flawed and biased human being — that she thinks has endeared him to centuries of readers and exasperated more plodding, systematic philosophers."
mitmads··on Sometimes, We Want Prices to Fool Us
Made me reread this article - http://money.cnn.com/2010/08/20/news/companies/inside_trader...

mitmads··on What Big Data will never explain
"In some ways the technology is transforming us into brilliant fools" - Nice sentence !!!
mitmads··on Lessons on Being a Success on Wall St., and Being a Casualty
"women need sponsors more than mentors. Mentors will offer advice and guidance; sponsors will actually pull women’s careers along." !!!
mitmads··on Why innovators get better with age
I agree with the fact that producers will not invest $100/$200 mn on a 25 year old. Thats the nature of the business. No connection with innovation.
mitmads··on Why innovators get better with age
"expertise is usually a pre-requisite for real innovation". May Be. But many a times, being naive (and inexperienced) may make one to see and think differently.
mitmads··on Why innovators get better with age
"The directors of the five top-grossing films of 2012 are all in their 40s or 50s" - What does this prove? Are they innovators? "But there is another reason to keep innovators around longer: the time it takes between the birth of an idea and when its implications are broadly understood and acted upon. This education process is typically driven by the innovators themselves." - I don't fully agree with this. 'typically' is a broad word.
mitmads··on Do drugs really have to be so expensive?
"We need to move to a system where new drugs are priced as close to the cost of production as possible - and where innovation is paid for and rewarded separately. We need innovation and affordable access." - A challenging pricing problem that needs to be solved.
mitmads··on With Bottle-Fillers in Mind, The Water Fountain Evolves
Whenever I used water fountains I thought the they called for better designs.
mitmads··on Following your bliss, right off the cliff
This - suffering comes from being attached to the outcomes.” - reminded me of a similar quote from Bhagavad Gita (paraphrased) - "Do your duty without attachment to the outcomes"
mitmads··on Starting From Scratch
Good w/e listening for entrepreneurs
mitmads··on One Thousand Words
Good tips (warning) for bloggers - "The blogosphere, with its wonderful but dangerous flexibility, can ruthlessly betray an author’s attitude toward his readers. Does he respect their precious time and keep things tight? Is he sensitive to their expectations?"
mitmads··on Apple is losing the war of words
Did you guys notice the author of the article? He has a strong connection with Apple/Jobs - https://www.smalldemons.com/persons/business_leaders/Jean-Lo...
mitmads··on Why we should memorize?
I envy my dad's ability to recite Shakespeare plays that he learnt many...many years back. The more I use my gadgets, the more i am losing my memory. Need to find ways to improve my memory.
mitmads··on Growing By Shrinking
Best phrase "optimize for happiness instead of money" !!!
mitmads··on This Story Stinks
In sites like Amazon.com, comments and reviews have a big influence on the consumers. No wonder Yelp was built on reviews.
mitmads··on Precious Ink – On handwriting
Thank you. I'll try them.
mitmads··on Groupon’s Bad Deal
No. The second mod is not mine.
mitmads··on Groupon’s Bad Deal
Done. Used the second half of that sentence to make it more appropriate.
mitmads··on Startup accelerators aren't for everyone
Good post. Thanks. If you take out the 'distractions' how much time ideally you think you should have spent on the process?
mitmads··on Precious Ink – On handwriting
Yes. I like 1-side papers. Some times i used to fold them, staple them together to make it a pocket sized notebook. I am not sure how for this is true - I remember reading somewhere that Gandhi used to use the white space on news paper borders to write.

Do you use any specific mind mapping technique?
