Believe this is the post right before he left for the US, perhaps done in a hurry.

Do you need better battery life? Otherwise the gains are minor.

Sounds like you’d like our group: https://trustworthy.technology/

There’s an invite link to a chat group as well, at the bottom of the page.

It sounds like you never tried, my car stereo does indeed work just like this. If you look at the specs of car stereo brands at crutchfield you’ll find similar limits like X000 songs.

It’s more likely poor programming than lack of cpu power. I personally prefer filename sorting rather than metedata sorting for this reason.

There’s very expensive stereos that might do it but they tend to come with Android etc, and those companies don’t want you to be self-sufficient.

This looks great, are the docs mostly complete?

Was recently trying to learn a desktop toolkit again and was disappointed that the docs of pygtk and rust/iced end around page three. Many projects, little follow up. Probably should pick a toolkit from the 90s instead.

This seems different. Also, tabs that look like tabs! Love it.

Ok, yet none of these things describe GG.

All the hardware makers are supply constrained, p/e reasonable, so nvidia has some more room to run. Though not be unicorn growth from here.

I see nothing with any of these pieces linked above, to make me think they are 1) definitely wrong or 2) the author has gone "crazy."

We may quibble over quality, or standards, laziness, but you seem to be rather invested. No one is right all the time, and there is opinion in his piece. Take with a grain of salt.

Not to mention in a country as big as Brazil, anything could and probably did happen, at least at a small scale. GG is living there, I've been there, and the articles did not seem obviously wrong.

I'll keep my eyes peeled however.

mixmastamyk··on Goodbye from Salon
Ok, had a chance to look at those. I'll tell you why they aren't very convincing. They are a third-party telling you what to think. The second article is 90% about RFK. Again GG wasn't critical enough of him for the author.

The podcast (so far, not heard the whole thing) is angry someone tried to make a non-judgemental documentary and/or interview.

Also, you mention Rumble without mentioning why he went elsewhere—censorship during Biden administration. These examples suggest a common lefty myopia.

Instead, I would have expected an article or video where GG directly supports a batshit position. Rather than a simple constitutional freedom of speech position where he allows an unsavory person airtime. At very least a direct link to the source material.

Oh yeah, I remember that. It was the same backend company running the dating for many sites.

Thanks. I wasn't paying attention to him five years ago, so will look at those. But I did watch a recent talk between him and Carlson and it was excellent: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yoBTkpus8Iw

When someone says "GG's crazy," I typically hear "I'm an angry lefty" who's upset he's not on my team any more. I don't think he was ever on anyone's side, one of the things I like about a journalist. He simply came up during the Dubya years and they were the default target. He's still anti-war, the most important position.

mixmastamyk··on Goodbye from Salon
It’s a long article that complains he wasn’t mean enough to Jones in person and has been on the old Carlson show? Anything better?
mixmastamyk··on Nasdaq Sinks 5% as Investors Retreat from AI Trade After Election
Good hardware companies are now trading at far under ten P/E, hardly ludicrous valuations. Sure there are some poor companies out there, but Nvidia and Micron are not among them. SMCI just beat substantially. Buying opportunity when things settle down.

I don't have a raspberry pi in the car, I have an older DIN car stereo. RPI was used as example that this isn't hard technically. Also left 64GB behind many years ago for non-car applications.

I’m talking about flacs and pioneer stereo from 2015, which don’t seem to have been updated since except cosmetically.
mixmastamyk··on Jailbreaking my car's navigation system just so I can change the time
Yeah, that's often the case. It's not really the size of the filesystem I think, my description was simplified. Believe when I got over N thousand songs it stopped working, which defeated the whole purpose of having my entire music collection on a drive. Still works on the home stereo though.
mixmastamyk··on How McDonald's first got its start (2016)
This seems to be a good article, though have not finished it yet. I will say however that the film The Founder covers some of this history and is relevant here.

mixmastamyk··on Jailbreaking my car's navigation system just so I can change the time
Embedded controllers of that class are usually not able to do such things. And if they are, it becomes a bottleneck when you plug in say a 64GB device. Five minute drive? No music because the stereo takes six minutes to sort the files on startup.

Another drawback of the death of DIN aftermarket stereos is that they stopped innovating there, I last updated my stereo in ~2015 and not found a more advanced replacement since. So never got one to accept a >256GB drive, though trivial elsewhere today. Raspberry Pi level tech.

mixmastamyk··on Jailbreaking my car's navigation system just so I can change the time
You can move files off and back on the drive and they’ll be in alphabetical order. If FAT, fatsort can do it afterwards.
