if I eat too many hot dogs and pork chops and ramen I'll get sick of hot dogs and pork chops and ramen. We needed a study for this?
mouse_··on Our investigation into the suspicious pressure on Archive.today
> Am I crazy or did those WAAD guys themselves just link the public to potentially illegal content?

I mean, it's well known that governments possess and distribute more of the stuff than anyone else. Government or not, not a big surprise.

mouse_··on Denmark faces £400M legal bill after failed pursuit of hedge fund trader
I'm faced with $75 subscription bill after failed pursuit of reading this article. Similarly to Denmark, I'm not paying that shit.

mouse_··on All of My Employees Are AI Agents, and So Are My Executives
> We’d been building what we liked to call a “procrastination engine,” named Sloth Surf. The app worked like this: A user who had the urge to procrastinate on the internet could come to the site, input their procrastination preferences, and let an AI agent do it for them. Want to waste half an hour on social media? Read sports message boards for the afternoon? Let Sloth Surf take care of the scrolling for you, our pitch went, and then it can email you a summary—all while you get back to work (or don’t, we’re not your boss).

This guy's living a delusional, fantasy business boy lifestyle where he has hardworking fictional employees working tirelessly on his poop-on-a-stick idea, while literally calling him in his free time to tell him it's a great idea and a valid thing to put his time into. What are YOU doing?

mouse_··on My Agents Crashed the Economy, So I Taught Them About Salads

These are the only two outcomes in real life, too

mouse_··on Ask HN: Is it possible to implement this button on a browser?
Yes. WebGL and/or WASM.

Good luck, you'll need it!

mouse_··on Samsung hikes memory chip prices by up to 60% as shortage worsens, sources say
640k ought to be enough for anybody.
mouse_··on Apple helped kill netbooks. Will it bring them back?
Shitty software killed netbooks. That Intel Atom was more than enough to accomplish the moon landing, or produce an indie game like cave story, or run a recording studio to make music. But people didn't want to do those things, they wanted to play Roblox and watch YouTube.

Netbooks are work machines, and as usual, people don't wanna work.

Typical! The "ess-jay-doubleyous" strike FEAR into the hearts of the BILLIONAIRES behind the New York Times.
mouse_··on AI Minus Vagina
> without payoff

I'd say R2-D2's design paid off tremendously. People loved it! It made potentially billions. Billions isn't enough of a payoff?

What if Chekhov's gun is in my story, solely because it polls better among readers?

mouse_··on Microsoft teases agents that become 'independent users within the workforce'
With Microsoft's new "your files just change on their own sometimes" plan, opaque bureaucracy has never been more opaque!
mouse_··on Ask HN: How does AI understand what I write?
The robot is copying how humans have previously responded to queries similar to yours, and semantically rephrasing to align with OpenAI/Microsoft's desired brand image.
mouse_··on Trump weighs giving Americans $2k from tariff revenues
Take $10 grand from every American, give them back 2 grand with your name on it. Dumbest half now willing to fight for you. Repeat.

Was it really always this easy to overthrow a government?

what kind of ivy tower in a bubble under a rock do you have to live in to not see that?

Dude scrolled Twitter one time for like 15 minutes and discovered what everyone else already knows, so he's some sort of Nostradamus?

mouse_··on Does Wayland fractional scaling work with games in 2025?
Windows 7 solved this problem, in 2009. I think we should just start over and do it like that... Or I guess we could embrace the sunk cost, in which case I'm certain people will still be malding about this in 2050, with blurry YouTube videos and screenshots that fuck up the frequency domain, breaking things like subpixel rendering. Actually, let's just deprecate subpixel rendering altogether to justify the path we've decided to make our whole personality. Oh and I forgot, can't have your favorite bitmap fonts anymore either, those are old!

Can't have shit in this house.
