mrits··on DoorDash to acquire Instacart
"Often times the time it takes for an order to land on your doorstep is meaningfully longer than it would have taken for you to drive to the store and pick it up yourself."

I don't think there are many people using this because they think they get it faster.

mrits··on Gemini 4 Carbon
It's a bit sad to think that 100 years from now the low tier models will still be better than us at grammar. They are getting better and we aren't
mrits··on Evidence of a spying operation by ICE against left-wing social movements
Care to list the reasons illegal immigration is good?
mrits··on fheroes2: A recreation of Heroes of Might and Magic II game engine
The demo of HOMM2 came with a map Broken Alliance. Just the free demo was a top 5 of my all time favorite gaming experiences. I still play it every couple years.
mrits··on Washing machines took decades to catch on
If you think that is being pedantic I can understand why you thought the article was well written.
mrits··on Washing machines took decades to catch on
disprove and debunk are not the same word
mrits··on Elon Musk Just Gave Europe a Reason to Replace American Technology
This thought process is why nobody in the US considered Europe a threat to our tech sector. You still don’t get it.
mrits··on Elon Musk Just Gave Europe a Reason to Replace American Technology
You don’t even have your own website to post this rant on.
mrits··on Xbox wants you to pay 24 to 40 cents per hour to stream games you bought
I'm at a point where if I can't stream a modern game I don't play it. I play a few hours a week and don't want my laptop to get hot.

All the other games I play are 20+ years old and I play in a windows VM.

mrits··on SimCity, but with Permits
I'm on month 3 of getting my permit approved for a...fence
mrits··on How the Claude Code team does code review
If we as engineers didn't use similar terminology to describe any code not written by ourselves for the last few decades perhaps people would take it seriously.
mrits··on Japanese people still aren't having sex. And nobody knows why
That will stop it surely
mrits··on JetBrains reported a net financial loss first time in its tracked history
It's interesting your complaints are similar to mine about TDD. I've dealt with so many engineers that assume that coverage and passing tests is the bar.
mrits··on Anthropic reported diary entry to police, woman faces felony charge
If you want technology that won't report you to the police for credible threats at they can easily detect perhaps create your own. I hear pen and paper work great for this.
mrits··on Borland Turbo Basic
I hung out on #C from 92-96 quite a bit. The most shocking part of your story was that people didn't recommend an ftp site where you could get anything you wanted for free.
mrits··on MongoDB CEO resigns to join Meta
Not sure why he'd want to take the pay cut with being a CEO
mrits··on Dutch governments builds alternative for Microsoft based on NixOS
You can't even build your own website to go to discuss this.
mrits··on Toyota is taking the Corolla electric
We don't need to bring Norway into a conversation about how cold weather effects batteries.
mrits··on Toyota is taking the Corolla electric
EVs don’t work well in a lot of North American climates
mrits··on Toyota is taking the Corolla electric
Yes, the famously meaningless US consumer…
mrits··on Federal judge orders Texas to air condition all prisons by the end of 2029
Norway is certainly going to learn this the hard way.
mrits··on Verda (Finland) raises $189M in Series B
You confuse poor with lean
mrits··on Verda (Finland) raises $189M in Series B
$198M for AI Cloud when US has a company that pays one of it's employees about that?
mrits··on Learning Programming in an Age of LLMs
I don't think it's a feature or a bug. It is an indicator of an extremely poor spec though.
mrits··on Learning Programming in an Age of LLMs
Extraneous and ambiguous is superior? Or are you talking about hypothetical new spoken languages?
mrits··on I'm sorry, you're not going to die from an AI-engineered supervirus
There must be some evolutionary kill switch in humans to prevent us from accepting our irrelevance.
mrits··on I'm sorry, you're not going to die from an AI-engineered supervirus
Not much of an argument as you just proved the counter point. You don't need a specialist for what is now common knowledge.
