mrjd··on Ethereal Email – A fake SMTP service
Also https://letterb.in which also has an API if it's handy to anyone.
mrjd··on Show HN: Glitch flickr images by given keyword
It's interesting to see this in JS. For a comparison I was playing with JPEG glitching a while back but in Go... http://jamesduncombe.com/whats-brewing/jpeg-crush/
mrjd··on HN statistics
Looks like it's being pulled from separate JSON files.
mrjd··on Ask HN: How do I present my prototype to you?
I agree, I prefer sketches. Everyone can do them, it's a low barrier to entry, and it saves learning another bit of software just to get your point across. Meeting in person would also allow you to get a gut reaction on who you're hiring.
mrjd··on The Evolution of the Web
Technology wise I think it's great. However, from a clarity point of view and ease of interpretation I think it needs more work as it takes a fair amount of brainpower to try and digest. It's no easy task though picturing the evolution of the web so hats off to them!
mrjd··on TinyPNG: Lossy compression for PNG that preserves full transparency.
You're right, it's listed on pngquant's site too as one of the GUI's.
mrjd··on Python vs. Processing as a First Language
I realize it's a different language, but how about Ruby-Processing? It's a wrapper of Processing's methods but in Ruby. Here's the link https://github.com/jashkenas/ruby-processing. It's much less verbose than Java and also has a very handy watch mode which reloads your sketch every time you make a change.
mrjd··on Turn anything into a videogame controller, even a banana
I think it's a great idea. They're making electronics fun and interesting which will hopefully attract people that would otherwise run a mile! Good luck guys!
mrjd··on 9 year old's DIY Cardboard Arcade gets Flash mobbed: Video
Totally agree. It was amazing to watch. To me he defines what an entrepreneur is. So inspiring!
mrjd··on Went Off The Rails: Why I'm Rebuilding Archaeopteryx In CoffeeScript
Can't Rails and Node play together (see: http://www.perfectline.ee/blog/optimizing-ruby-on-rails-appl...)? To me it falls back to 'the best tool for the job'. Both Rails and Node have their strong points.
mrjd··on Instant CSS, JS, HTML or DOM documentation
It's cool but the lack of unique url's and back button is a shame. Hopefully that gets sorted.
mrjd··on JavaScript Enlightenment eBook has been released
I agree, we need some kind of excerpt or something. The info from the table of contents looks interesting though.
mrjd··on The Linux desktop experience is killing Linux on the desktop
Agree. I'm on OSX. I've used many different Linux distros but they don't have that 'just working' touch yet. I must admit, Ubuntu is pretty damn good though. It sucks trying to make stuff work that just should on Linux. I'm sure that one day though things will change.

It also needs better cohesion between design and code...
