mrloopex··on Muse Glimmer: 30B-parameter model optimized for always-on local agent workflows
Think real hard about that. What does it mean if the only hacker chat group on the planet despises meta this much? Think.
mrloopex··on Windows 11's built-in Weather app wastes more than 1 GB of RAM
Attention Hacker News: you are literally the people writing this code and these frameworks.

Get your shit together and be the change you want to see. Or stop whining.

mrloopex··on Amazon circumvents Gilroy community vote for AI data center
There’s no such thing as a “final” contract. Everything is open to relitigation. I mean look at the E Jean Carol and President Trump case.
mrloopex··on The AI Apocalypse Is Here
He’s very competent at threatening republicans in congress who do not kiss his feet. Thats a skill. An evil skill. But a skill nonetheless.
mrloopex··on We replaced Redis with MySQL for inventory reservations and it scaled
This is absolutely fascinating. I enjoy real life stories like this. I went to a Node meetup in 2013 when Target had just switched to Node from PHP and it was a similar experience to see their metrics and hear their strategy.
mrloopex··on Gateway 2000's hilariously bad ads in the 90s (Part II)
Actually yes China. Hong Kong specifically before the manufacturing boom moved to mainland. By the 90s Japan had lost its DRAM edge and was not making any PC peripherals en masse. TSMC was barely three years old in 1990.
mrloopex··on Gateway 2000's hilariously bad ads in the 90s (Part II)
Let’s be clear: they were Lego-ing together parts from China. There were no mass produced PC components in the US by the 90s.
mrloopex··on U.S. Department of Energy Launches the Genesis Open Models Initiative
You and me both.
mrloopex··on Iceberg Collapses and Flips over in Ilulissat, Greenland (July 25, 2026) [video]
Does that mean every TTT diagram is wrong?

Nevermind I just learned about CCT diagrams. I guess having only one year of materials engineering means I should STFU. :)

Freezing point of water changes with salinity and impurities. By definition a liquid cannot be below its freezing point until it has completed its phase change.
mrloopex··on U.S. economy lost 23,000 jobs in July, a sudden reversal
This should have nothing to do with data science but basic math literacy. Quantities without context are meaningless. Reporters should know better but if when headlines have to catchy day in day out … shrugs. Stock market reporters are the worst: a 1000 point drop in the Dow meant a lot more when it was 7000 than it does at 40,000.
mrloopex··on US strikes $1.2B deal to pay German firm to halt offshore wind projects
Nice goalpost shift. Wonder what source provides your propaganda. If you look at the entire picture, you’re doing far far more benefit for the environment by reducing fossil fuel dependency. But go ahead and cry for the birds.
mrloopex··on Software development with AI is starting to feel like cooking steak
Just trying to troll guys who make steak their identity. Lame.
mrloopex··on Launch HN: ProvenMetal (YC S26) delivers circuit boards in days instead of weeks
And their ability to pollute without regard for life or the future.
mrloopex··on Taylor Farms Cyclospora outbreak triples in size
How is this still not contained? Jeez.
mrloopex··on I'll be stepping back from leading product for X
Long live Rabble.
mrloopex··on FIPS 140-3 is not a security guarantee, and auditors know it
Every customer wants FIPS 140-3 until the realize the performance hit. Then suddenly they don’t remember why they wanted it. Datasheet engineering FTW.
mrloopex··on There Will Come Soft Rains (1950) [pdf]
Lucifer has fallen!

“Canticle” blew my 14 year old mind. Really sad ending but the mutations really got under my skin.

Didn’t Plato call sad music a “false construction” when outlining justice?

mrloopex··on There Will Come Soft Rains (1950) [pdf]
… laughs in cop …
mrloopex··on Ray Bradbury's "There Will Come Soft Rains" is set today (2026-08-04)
The rebuilding of the temple. Yeah that faction is still in power. Blows my mind.
mrloopex··on AI-Generated Images Discourage Me from Reading Your Blog
Stucco on the ceiling is done to hide imperfections from hastily installed drywall.

In cheap housing constructing, every step hides the previous steps mistakes. Framing - drywall - trim - texturing - painting - decorating.

mrloopex··on AI-Generated Images Discourage Me from Reading Your Blog
Same thing with dark mode.
mrloopex··on There Will Come Soft Rains (1950) [pdf]
Born in 1968 I missed “duck and cover” but rode the wave of Reagan brinkmanship with my skater friends until 1990, watching all the broadcast TV PSAs and songs and art about nuclear war. It was real. It pervaded daily life: the notion that two old white men were having a pissing contest with every human as disposable bargaining chips. And as always, 25% of the US population cheered for purification of the planet because Jesus was coming (see: Hal Lindsay).
mrloopex··on SpaceX wins $1.6B Space Force contract for 18 Falcon 9 launches
Why are you willingly refusing to look at the entire cost of SpaceX to the US economy and subsequently the taxpayers? THAT is 20x the cost of NASA. Easily.
mrloopex··on LLMs reward expertise
They’re a force multiplier if you are skilled and chaos if you are not.
mrloopex··on How Hollywood stopped making movies in Hollywood
People are also pretty fucking dumb and vote for stadia instead of schools, parks, and libraries.
mrloopex··on How Hollywood stopped making movies in Hollywood
Cape cod. In the 1980s the rich people had trouble getting their trash picked up because no one could afford to live within an hour of the wealthiest areas.
mrloopex··on Ten advances in mathematics and theoretical computer science
As someone who’s spent the last year deploying PQC cryptosystems, it sure would be a kick in the ass if they find a faster solution to the nearest vector problem. I mean that’s why we’re going hybrid, but still.

(Well to be more precise we’re going hybrid because of unknown SCAs.)

mrloopex··on SpaceX wins $1.6B Space Force contract for 18 Falcon 9 launches
Due to subsidies and investment fraud and subsidized tax breaks to 1% shareholders this will cost the US 10x more than if NASA just did it. People like to say nasa was a bloated waste of money, but thinking beyond k=1 it is obvious privatization costs even more in the long run.
mrloopex··on How to Exist
Leave it to hacker news to bitch about how “meditation is wrong” just because it requires a tiny bit of effort to understand.
