muttantt··on Vercel completes $250M Series E round at $3.25B valuation
It's really simple, this is VC pyramid scheme at play. Say you put $100M into a company at $1B valuation. A year later you put $250M at a $3.25B valuation. Your $350M is now valued at made up $580M. When the company later sells for just double, $7B, your $350M became $1.2B.

muttantt··on Front-end is harder than back-end
We've resisted many trends and sticking with AngularJS 1.8 in our 8 figure ARR SaaS. Customers have no clue we are running AngularJS and even if they did, our SPA is as snappy today as it was in 2017 when we launched v1 of our SaaS so why would anyone care?

Backend is a python Falcon REST API and there too we resisted internally calls for moving to newer async frameworks, port some parts to Go, etc.

muttantt··on ChatGPT Enterprise
That was quick. Companies offering APIs end up competing with their developer base that built end-user facing products. Another example is Twilio that offers retail-ready products now such as Studio, prebuilt Flex, etc.
muttantt··on Dave Portnoy Bought Back Barstool Sports for $1
Can PENN be sued? Clearly they could have sold this for more than $1. Did they fumble their fiduciary duty to shareholders?
muttantt··on WeWork Warns of Possible Bankruptcy
Spent the last few months in NYC and also enjoyed the large variety of Weworks to pick from each day. But a common theme was how empty most of them were and devoid of rented offices. Some of them even shut down entire floors for the time being. Man I wish I would have shorted this stock, and I kept thinking about it each time I visited another ghost town Wework.
