mvts··on Supreme Court Overturns Roe vs. Wade
do you think the supreme court did this because they share the same opinion as rbg? I think this Case was maybe a wonky solution for the Problem but it was the only one you Americans Had.
mvts··on Deep-learning text-to-speech tool for generating voices of various characters
Nice work on the Gordon Freeman Voice :D
mvts··on Flower – A Friendly Federated Learning Framework
Correct. Federated Learning is basically Machine Learning but the Learning occurs directly on the same devices where the data is (e.g. phones). Each device trains a model and sends it to one central model, which combines all of them together. With this it is not necessary for the central model to know about the data which is good with regards to data protection laws.
mvts··on Show HN: Cascadia Code, a Font for Windows Terminal and VSCode
No umlaute - can't use it. Looks nice though.
mvts··on Ask HN: Starting on a new project, what programming language to use?
Well, I'll just be the one to say it: PHP

EDIT: Framework... maybe F3 or Codeigniter, whatever floats your boat.

mvts··on How would I get started?
Great article, an enjoyable read. Thanks.
mvts··on SciCombinator - scientific news aggregator and discussion
The font isn't rendered well in FF 16. Other than that, it's a pretty interesting project.
mvts··on Adobe's Source Code Pro Font
I tried it and it looks all blurred in my text editor.
mvts··on Show HN: Docverter: Convert your text content to PDF/HTML/EPUB with one REST API
Alright, that makes sense. Great idea and reasonable pricing, I wish you the best of luck with your project.
mvts··on Show HN: Docverter: Convert your text content to PDF/HTML/EPUB with one REST API
I don't get why I should pay for this service. I could just download and install pandoc for free on my system. Am I missing something?
mvts··on The new Secure Password Hashing API in PHP 5.5
Wow, that actually is very useful. Looking forward to using it.
mvts··on Forget MSP430 Launchpad - TI ARM Cortex-M4 Launchpad at $4.99
okay thanks!
mvts··on Forget MSP430 Launchpad - TI ARM Cortex-M4 Launchpad at $4.99
Great, thank you for taking the time to write this.
mvts··on Forget MSP430 Launchpad - TI ARM Cortex-M4 Launchpad at $4.99
So what exactly can I do with one of these? What do I need apart from the Launchpad to get started? Would someone be so kind to explain that to a microcontroller-newb?
mvts··on Show HN: My first weekend project.
> target="_blank";> Why the semi-colon?

Apart from that, grats on your first project!

mvts··on Web Application Development with Clojure
Maybe that's just what it's like developing Web Applications with Clojure... ;-)
mvts··on Late bloomer, not a loser. (I hope)
So you're a loser now when you have a bachelor degree, a job and good health? Times have changed.
mvts··on Unity is the end of Ubuntu
After upgrading to 11.10 I kinda raged for about one hour. Then installed KDE. And I am looking out for an alternative distro that fits my needs.
mvts··on High Priority Free Software Projects
A free alternative to Oracle Forms? That's a pretty neat idea since in my opinion OF actually serves the developers instead of enslaving them.
mvts··on Hacker News Front Page Snapshot from Last Night
You ask to much. Maybe you can stay calm and read the 10'000th article on node.js while half of the world mourns one of the greatest visionaries of the last decades. I can't.
mvts··on Show HN: Hackerhub.org
My profile now shows a blank page... although my json file seems to be valid. Help? http://mats.hackerhub.org/

Great work by the way :)

mvts··on Why Ubuntu Linux is now ready for primetime
Hm yeah I recently discovered Xara Xtreme, what seems to be quite similar to Fireworks from my point of view. I once tried Inkscape but it literally grossed me out just like photoshop did. Maybe eventually I'll give it another try.
mvts··on Why Ubuntu Linux is now ready for primetime
It's also about several features which aren't quite working under Linux. But I'll try that.
mvts··on Show HN: Like Button for Hacker News
I have the feeling, that a social network is the exact opposite of what HN is aiming to be. I'd rather like to think of it as a community.
mvts··on Why Ubuntu Linux is now ready for primetime
Ubuntu is great, I have it up and running on my laptop since about 2 years. But I have WinXP, too. Just because I need Fireworks (I absolutely can't get along with PS or Gimp) and Wine is okay, but it makes the applications so slow...

That is really the only damned reason, I still have to switch between Win and Linux on my Laptop. If Adobe's products would run flawlessly on Linux, I'd never touch Windows again.

mvts··on The curious case of DuckDuckGo
Feelin the same way, but I'll be trying this anyway. I'd rather have it ugly and honest than good looking and insidious.
mvts··on Twitter Bootstrap
Thank you so much for that framework. I just started implementing it in my latest app. Looks great! I'm struggling a bit with the modals implementation, but I'll get it to work.
