natebc··on Anthropic takes steps to block Claude from reverse-engineering video games
And stole every bit of Intellectual Property they could get their hands on legally or otherwise.
natebc··on Prospero: A new coding harness for a more civilized age
I'm similar but not really a programmer. I've been a linux sysadmin for a few decades but for whatever reason I prefer using Codex via the desktop app rather than the TUI. The desktop app on linux is fine for me. Note: i've not used it anywhere else but since linux was the last to get the desktop client i'm assuming it's at least as good on other operating systems.

On looking at Prospero it's ... simpler than this is so maybe not robust enough for your wants.

I'd have gone with Bantha in an ice cave myself.
natebc··on In Leaked Audio, Flock CEO Tells Cops Backlash to the Company Isn't Real
In yesterday's video from Benn Jordan [0] there was a Flock employee that told 911 multiple times "I'm not sure if they are armed." when reporting that a few people were filming from the perimeter of a Flock office building in Georgia.

He also said several times that "we're under lockdown here."

/shrug Seems like he was certainly trying to cause some form of harm.

Flock sucks.

As a homelabber, that 5090 I bought a couple years ago for 2k just sold for 9k and I paid off my car.

To flip Congress in the hopes that a few people that will actually obey The U.S. Constitution are elected.

natebc··on US Rep Announces Congressional Legislation to Protect Video Game Ownership
Funcom released a single player update for Dune: Awakening (not quite MMO but close) just a few weeks ago. They have simulated player economy and end game systems and flexible rules+progression for the game itself ... it's been great.

For many online games the same could be done. Simulate the systems, give players the ability to tweak the rules and just have fun.

natebc··on How Amazon pushes up prices all across the Internet
I had the option to return to a Sheetz a couple of weeks back. Totally unattended kiosk, scan QR code, bag item and drop it in.
natebc··on 'AI' Is Not a Tool by Rich Hickey
The part about "It's just a tool." that always bugged me is exactly this.

A Hammer is a tool ... a carpentry sub-contractor is not.

This trajectory very bad.

natebc··on I'm being cyberattacked by Tesla, Inc
yes you should. it's the correct and professional thing to do. You don't have to do it by hand but you should still do it.

natebc··on Debian polls its developers on AI: permit or ban?
And the parent is mistaken (similar to lots of people in this thread) in what this is about. It's about Debian's use of LLM generated code.
natebc··on typ.ing
That's how I was taught in typing class in the mid 90s.
natebc··on Grand jury declines to indict Ohio man charged with destroying Flock camera
| destroying public property

Flock cameras don't belong to the jurisdiction they're in. Flock is rent-seeking the cops along with violating our privacy.

natebc··on We Tracked a Shipment of Rare Books. It Ended at an Amazon AI Training Facility
We don't know that they're not either. As pointed out the fastest method to scan books is to cut the spine and scan the pages, effectively destroying the book.

Is this the place we think Amazon decided to be careful and deliberate about what they do?

natebc··on France to ban unsolicited telemarketing calls
This is about unsolicited, commercial, legitimate calls from OUTSIDE of +1 TO a number that is a +1. I don't think it's about person->person calls.
natebc··on France to ban unsolicited telemarketing calls
The carve out for political solicitation is particularly egregious.
