naveen99··on OpenAI raises $11B at a $1.25T valuation
They could just do it through azure or aws. Also, at these numbers a pseudo merger between OpenAI and Anthropic could happen. There is no anti trust anymore. It’s all the same owners for all these companies… the only anti trust is between usa, Russia, Europe, China, and the middle powers.
naveen99··on OpenAI raises $11B at a $1.25T valuation
Sam raised a $100B in previous round. I think a direct listing ipo would see their valuation go up to $4T, and then they could do some at the market sales as needed.
naveen99··on OpenAI raises $11B at a $1.25T valuation
This valuation is a function of early accumulation of compute. They could rent it to Anthropic, or poach more Anthropic engineers.
naveen99··on 70% of Brits say please or thank you when speaking to AI, some even apologize
No it’s a retroactive open invitation.
naveen99··on Anthropic IPO buyers see valuation as low as $1.1T
anthropic futures on binance dropped again today. why don't they just do a direct listing and then atm share sales ?
naveen99··on AMD CEO saying it's a "data center first" company and PC sales will plummet
eventually data centers will go on fire sales just like downtown commercial real estate.
naveen99··on GPT-6 Astra covertly underperforms on safety research
Astra and Claude were trained by peg bundy?
naveen99··on AI isn't replacing SREs, it's deskilling them
Bottleneck is intelligence, not experience.
naveen99··on Using Claude to reduce the attack surface of code
Kind of like the old days of human gatekeepers.
naveen99··on Muse Wonder
google was just hoarding the tech… money invested in openai came from somewhere probably as profits (just re-allocated by the shareholders rather than management)
naveen99··on Can you use autoregressive diffusion to generate market data?
The stocks in the index funds are picked, just by a committee. And there are a few competing index funds.
naveen99··on How Singapore's government-run dating service works
Raising children is a lot of work. I guess to complete the circle, children would pay the father back with interest or grand children when they grow up.
naveen99··on On social reality in China
Single party state still has elections. You still have to get the votes. You just don’t have 2 layers of voting (primary for party, then secondary between parties). The primary is the final election. I guess the confusion is where the intersection happens between bottom up voting and the top down appointees. Not too different from corporations… there is some merit based promotions from individual contributors, but at some point in the middle management , you get a bunch of yes men because of the top down control…
naveen99··on How Singapore's government-run dating service works
Yes
naveen99··on How Singapore's government-run dating service works
Same as currently, jointly negotiated
naveen99··on How Singapore's government-run dating service works
Men get a child. Yeah, it’s almost all doable in current legal landscape. Just not so socially accepted. the default parenting contract could be per child…
naveen99··on How Singapore's government-run dating service works
Men would obviously the buyer…. Most would need financing… (baby mortgage) Would probably need a Fannie / Freddie cousin if the market got overheated and a bubble pop happened.

theoretically some women could pay some quality fathers for coparenting , but it would be rare.

naveen99··on How Singapore's government-run dating service works
Foster care is for other people’s children. I think having her genes in the children would make a professional mother a little more attentive to her children. Also better quality parenting would allow her to charge more…

The current situation artificially limits supply of mothers because it requires relative exclusivity of the father. It’s like nimby people not wanting apartments in their cities to limit supply. Except imagine if nimby’s were able to ban apartments all over the world. That’s the situation with motherhood. It’s single family zoning world wide…

Of course it sounds dystopian and is not about to happen anytime soon. Because cartel’s don’t give up policies that limit supply so easily…

naveen99··on How Singapore's government-run dating service works
If women were (legally allowed and required ) to be paid upfront for delivering and raising children, the market would sort things out. We would probably get some professional mothers who would have 6-12 children.
naveen99··on How I changed teaching after AI managed to do all my homework assignments
If the ai is good enough to do the homework, it should be good enough to check the homework.

I mean some people are good at Tetris and some aren’t. Tetris can tell you which ones are which.

naveen99··on Pacing the Frontier is not the actual goal for AI labs
Or maybe general ai that is more efficient independently than humans is still far away.

We already have plenty of cheap alien intelligence outside our borders that gets throttled at the border…

naveen99··on Fertility rate dropped over 50% within 10 years in Argentina
How many more generations of 6 children per woman do you think they have space for ?
naveen99··on How I changed teaching after AI managed to do all my homework assignments
They do scale if the examiner is an LLM.
naveen99··on The Price of Intelligence Is Falling Rapidly
I would rather have SpongeBob making my burger patties than squidword. More intelligence is better than less intelligence.
naveen99··on Fertility rate dropped over 50% within 10 years in Argentina
South Korea is more densely populated than India. Exponential growth comes to an end when there is no more room.
naveen99··on Bill to Ban Private Equity from Owning Medical Practices
Optimization of medical care in usa is mostly limited by regulation and fear of lawsuits. Neither of which is going away. You can always get cheaper care in other parts of the world.

Vets see animals, not humans.

naveen99··on Bill to Ban Private Equity from Owning Medical Practices
I wonder if ai can help doctors reclaim their practices, as the bureaucracy of dealing with insurance may become easier. Administrative overhead must be cheaper with ai. It was the main reason for consolidation and giving up management to hospitals and private equity.
naveen99··on OpenAI Model Misalignment Report
So automode is still dangerous. Make it not default again ?
naveen99··on A warning about 'model welfare'
A little premature given ai is still not smart enough to pay for itself and defend itself in a hostile environment.

And pointless when it is.

naveen99··on Sam Altman: I agree with Dario that we need to pace the frontier
Reminds me of when the colleges went sat free. Pacing human intelligence at the high school level.
