Criticism is a valid 'something interesting'. And growing numbers of us also don't want to feed the US mega-companies LLM training sets.
More and more people are keeping human-generated stuff to themselves, cause of that.
The companies can pay market value. Someone will.
No I won't sign an NDA.
No, I won't sign your obscene contract.
No, I won't agree to a 90/120/180/360 day embargo.
No, I don't care about your customers or shareholders.
Simply put: fuck you, pay me. Or, find out.
Yeah it's on HF. Just look up qwen-3.8-flash-next abliterated.
Craigslist was the first nail in the newspaper coffin. Classifieds and adverts ate a LOT of local money. And all of that went poof. CL cost $0 to post. Why would I pay $10 for a week advert?
All the aggregators grabbed news from everywhere, and paid 0 for it. It cost to make. And made nothing. Encouraged the closed/paywall web.
Ganett etm bought a LOT of local papers, and lowered quality as low as they could go. Inertia kept many older subscribers. I know 0 millrnial and younger subscribers.
NYT and other major papers are easy to sign up, and you basically have to die to get rid of. I would never recommend.
There's a lot of factors. Basically most journalists are going to the glue factory, like horses did with motor vehicles.
FLOSS, easy to self host, and works nicely.
Thats where all the anti-DRM tools are, along with Bypass paywalls free, and a bunch of other useful "illegal" tools.
And the real answer: use OcuLink. It's just a PCIE lane->cable hardware, and is simple, cheaper, and just works. Doesnt even use drivers, as its just an extension of the PCIE lanes. Standard Linux tools work perfectly.
They've always played these sorts of games. Now, people are seeing the substandard solutions for what it is, and are angry.
Creepy as hell company. Had a good free Linux distro, but it's not that good anymore. It's coasting on inertia these days.
And the charge needs to be applied via RICO to all the C levels and the board of directors.
This doesn't abrogate the paid contract. But you trespass the owners of said hardware after being formally notified for removal.
A counter-example: how well received would it be if I made a solar/camera/battery/cell device that was called "PigSty" and only tracked police vehicles? How would the city/county/state go after me for those devices?
We have these LLM tools, and the questions is "We have X amounts of sargasso algae, and it bioaccumulates arsenic. What bioremedative pathways to accumulate and extract arsenic, in order to heal the oceans, make safer food, and get pure arsenic for the silicon GaAs Industry?"
I've a friend who has access to base 3d printers, and can print up to 12k RNA base pairs. We're now at the point of growing our own remediation.
The LLMs are sold as a panacea. Time to start having them carry their salt, or their gallium arsenide and silicon.
I know the first one I got was the anachronistic Irish and the clones. No clue of the episode name.
I know it's 2nd season cause it's Pulaski as doctor. I liked her over Crusher. And she called the clones' bluff immediately!
I've been watching Iceland news, along with machine translation of Icelandic.
Right now, they're increasing taxes on parking, toll roads, 30% increase on hotels and B&B's, and per-kilometer driving tax.
It's insane the amount of taxes on taxes on taxes. And foreigners not in the know are about to get whalloped for $1000 extra around the ring road.
Sure, Iceland isn't EU proper. But they are Schengen along with other alliances. EU complaint stands, given they tax tax tax tax.
So, why isnt the DOJ pursuing this? As far as the reportings go, their LLMs went bananas hacking everywhere and everything.
But the big big problem isn't windows/Linux/mac. Writing drivers for those are "easy".
The problem lies in all the networking gear speaks only IPv4 and/or 6. LLM assisted hacks can get into maintenance areas, but these devices are also built to support the least amount of things. Like, there may not be enough ram or storage to even run it.
And 20 years in, you see how well IPv6 has taken off :eyeroll:
And even on my network, I disabled IPv6. My upstream ISP is doing something that makes '6 unstable, but '4 is fine. And I find most network engineers don't have to maintain '6, so they never really learn it.
I created an account, specifically cause I found a few questions that I knew the answers to, and could cite properly.
So, I answered 2. All is good...
Next day, 1 is marked as dupe (?!) and there's literally no other answers. So, duping what? Nope, not permitted to know that.
The other answer, some braindead idiot mod decided to change my answer to wrong garbage. No request to change. No verification. No nothing.
Shortly thereafter, those 2 responses were downmodded, leaving my karma negative. So basically, can't do anything. So I left. I'll spend my time on communities that actually give a fuck, cause SO didn't.
And since they opened up their auction site (like an early eBay) it's just gone upside down stupid.
I'm also unsure how they even keep their 501c3 status.
So this should also be an entry point to disable the yellow dots tracking, and also save Y ink.
But nope, my original comment is flagged. Le sigh.
And instead of the article just not being shown to them, their whim is forced on everybody.
And even if it is an incendiary news article, the discussions are usually still better than average. But no, a few whinys kill it for everyone.
Publish your bank accounts.
Publish your private messages to friends, family, partner.
These idiots who say "nothing to hide" usually have the most to hide, and lose. And they can't see how something yesterday was legal and today isn't, can still be used against you.
Secondly, it's only for-profit copyright violations that are a crime. But as OFCOM learned the hard way, stuff illegal in the US can be legal elsewhere.
Thirdly, for some fucking reason, the US AI companies are immune to criminal statutes of for-profit copyright violations. Job creators, or some bullshit.
And I'm not sure exactly why you're so dead-set on "crime crime crime". It's all politics and manufactured criminality. And well, I don't particularly care if backing up my movies to a Jellyfin and sharing access is "ill eagle".
The AI companies are bulk pirating AND then selling that access.... But I'm the criminal? Fuck that noise.
If you try to use a normal VPN, you get rate limited or blocked everywhere. But if you switch to a residential proxy, all those problems go away.
To be fair, if all you're doing is torrenting or similar copyright infringing actions, then a simple VPN is sufficient. But if you want to do web stuff, you gotta use a residential vpn. Not much way around this.
Of course, the countries the Jellyfin and Plex servers along with IPTV dealers aren't illegal there.
And sure, your device becomes a residential proxy. They don't make that fact clear... But if you told people, I think for that $100-$200 a month streaming bills go poof is probably worth it.
This is just one instance: a hepatitis drug named Solvaldi. Costs $1000 a pill, need 84 pills for full course. How much does the drug actually cost? $300 and you can make it with the Four Thieves Vinegar Collective's chemistry reactor.
But why is this capitalist deaths? Cause 5 million people per year die from Hepatitis. And this drug is a *cure*. But insurance wont pay the $84000 needed for the cure. So they get maintenance drugs that dont cure, and those people die from it needlessly.
And the numbers are going up to 6 million a year of needless capitalist deaths, from a single drug.
We can easily look at corporate death panels, err, I mean medical insurance. Its insurance fraud if we lie, but to them, they can just deny treatment and wait out the death clock.
Capitalism is even more extractive and devastating on the populace. And instead of "capitalism causes X million deaths a year", nope, its a individual's fault. Its always the individuals fault, no matter how systemic the problem is.
