netdur··on Elon Musk Just Gave Europe a Reason to Replace American Technology
we don't have Fox in Africa
netdur··on Elon Musk Just Gave Europe a Reason to Replace American Technology
europe has had a free ride at the rest of the world's expense, whether through security provided by the us, resources stolen from africa, or cheap energy from russia, when others don't give europeans what they want, they complain, and that's about it, replacing starlink? good luck
netdur··on Janas: Run LLMs larger than RAM by streaming experts from SSD
I did, the sd.cpp take too much time on my laptop to generate image, the issue is known and it did not seem like it gonna be resolved, so I build my own, and that's why https://github.com/netdur/qwen-image-cplus
netdur··on Gemini 4 Argon (High): Intelligence, Performance and Price Analysis
flash on ai studio is my fav model to chat with, by miles
netdur··on Gemini 4 Argon
> Nobody has a moat. duo to LLM mislead as AGI, then famous theory is still hold, just not for LLM
netdur··on Gemini 4 Argon
I started my antigravity ide and I do not see gemini 4 there, does it mean google need government approval?
netdur··on SpaceX's Starship launching to orbit for first time ever today
The OP will go on or not, I don't need to think high or low of Mask
netdur··on The case against a C alternative (2022)
no worry, name is intentional, it's C + packages, language itself is tiny, strictly bounded by the C ABI, and doesn't include most of the features you'd expect in a language, even standard library is just a external package, so it's not a subset of C++ at all
netdur··on The case against a C alternative (2022)
I am guilty in a sense, I started a new programming language called C+ and one of the pillars I set was that it should not be an alternative to C (or any other language), in fact it uses Clang as its compiler, most of the points in the article still hold, but I hope it doesn’t stop people from coming up with new ideas and actually implementing them in this field, you don't have to be next big thing to be awesome
netdur··on Mojo 1.0
like finding a rock of gold underground and tossing it away because it’s dirty?
netdur··on Grok Bot by SpaceXAI
Remember, this is HN, behave like hackers
netdur··on You don't need React: creating a minimal UI library in Vanilla JavaScript
unlike many of the commenters, I found this pretty nice and educational, there are full stack developers who cannot write anything outside React and do not even understand why React was created in the first place
netdur··on Open-weight AI is having its Kubernetes moment
why would any software want to have Kubernetes moment? can't count how devop I know that is confused by it
netdur··on Gemini 3.6 Flash, 3.5 Flash-Lite, and 3.5 Flash Cyber
Do something instead of complain
netdur··on Qwen 3.8
The only problem I had with Qwen, fine tuning on Colab, it takes 31 t/s while Gemma 4 is around 9 t/s, otherwise, one of best local LLM
netdur··on Minikotlin
Perhaps never, Claude will just be replaced by something else, and eventually we’ll have the Amish of AI
netdur··on Starlink unlimited aviation plan to rise from $10k/month to $20k
basically investors interested in long term and see how spacex the only one in game
netdur··on Zig Creator Calls Spade a Spade, Anthropic Blows Smoke
very narrow vision, openai and anthropic realized what they have probably won’t lead to agi so they moved the goalposts to replacing jobs, programming just happened to be the easiest field because engineers are technical, willing to pay, and the input/output is relatively easy to measure, even that has problems though, a lot of managers are noticing that code generation is fast but actual production output doesn’t improve at the same rate, anthropic basically bootstrapped itself on coding and now they’re looking for higher paying fields that put less pressure on their servers
netdur··on Rewriting Bun in Rust
Zig and Rust solve different problems, Bun got burned by its indiscipline, and Zig’s response was sadly to flood HN with “how to use Zig” articles
netdur··on Egypt Is Building a New Nile
Here’s the source of the problem https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grand_Ethiopian_Renaissance_Da...
netdur··on Google limits Meta's use of its Gemini AI models
Google is the only LLM frontier that can supply huge enterprise grade AI, yet still struggle, the other one is spacex but their LLM is Grok
netdur··on OpenAI DayBreak – GPT-5.5-Cyber
Why do you want to tax openai on anthropic's fud mistake?
netdur··on Anthropic pauses credit change for Claude Code
It will happen, it's just now is not best time for it
netdur··on Apple reveals new AI architecture built around Google Gemini models
Anthropic would never provide weight to anyone for local hosting
netdur··on Gemma 4 QAT models: Optimizing compression for mobile and laptop efficiency
Because TPU has 2GB and weight + context needs more
netdur··on Google will pay SpaceX $920M per month for compute
Yes, it is issue of scale, google had to restrict usage because hardware are not available, regardless of what kind of hardware that is
netdur··on Ask HN: What was your "oh shit" moment with GenAI?
That is one of best answers
netdur··on Gemma 4 QAT models: Optimizing compression for mobile and laptop efficiency
not sure if I understand you, but 4Q and QAT 4Q are different
netdur··on Gemma 4 QAT models: Optimizing compression for mobile and laptop efficiency
had a good run with Gemma 4 E2B Unsloth 4Q: https://youtube.com/shorts/XLsAnz5aAAI

The E4B model doesn’t fit on my phone TPU, so it swaps to RAM, the QAT version means more accuracy, good!

netdur··on Claude Opus 4.8 Max responding to an empty message
That's great, spotting Opus text got easier
