netrap··on The Grid, a factory-scale robot in Massachusetts that builds PCBs on demand
Lets be realistic.. components meaning 0805 capacitors and resistors, small digital ICs. I can almost guarantee those aren't made in the US... and are WAY cheaper on a site like LCSC.
netrap··on The Grid, a factory-scale robot in Massachusetts that builds PCBs on demand
For PCB quotes yes, but this kind of thing can be gamed by competitors. I think this is why there isn't great price info for many brick and mortar and online shops now..
netrap··on No more icons in every menu by default
I think it is a great example of developer bias.. I agree with you.

Teach them to be preppers!
netrap··on DeepInfer: High-performance inference framework for DeepSeek models

Kind of says that internal China competition is more intense than from America. I think there is both, but I would say it isn't like the "whole state" is backed against "us" in AI.

netrap··on DeepInfer: High-performance inference framework for DeepSeek models
Over maybe not. However, it does increase competition possibilities, right? Both of them have a pretty good head start though!

How much does a fryer cost? How much does the fryer cost to run? How much would it cost to get the fries into the customers hand (i.e. food truck, rent)?
netrap··on DeepSeek banned from U.S. federal civilian agencies under new DHS order
could you poison the model? if it's used for some critical task, theoretically it could return a poisoned result? not saying it is, just curious

netrap··on Autistici/Inventati's main .org domain goes dark after US terrorism designation
That makes the most sense to me. Although, I don't know if .org is subject to US law specifically? Is it?
netrap··on An ongoing 3D-printer AGPL violation
I think it's reached commodity status instead of community... 3D printing I mean. At that point only thing that matters is ease of use, price, and quality of the result. People who are not _in_ the community but use the tool.
netrap··on Universal health coverage could save $1T and 114k lives a year: study
Maybe this is the purpose of it? To keep us working like cattle.
netrap··on U.S. economy lost 23,000 jobs in July, a sudden reversal
weird dejavu because this exact comment was on the last one of these job lost updates i saw
netrap··on What we call "age verification" is actually mass surveillance
Perfect is the enemy of the good, right? I mean a page header or some other simple means to identify "adult" vs not is good for most cases? Just thinking about it.. obviously it can be bypassed but is there a good enough?

If it provides similar utility as a car, what's the big deal about that price? It would be the same type of purchase, right?
netrap··on FreeBSD Foundation executive director tries daily driving FreeBSD on laptop
FreeBSD does not have a desktop installer yet.. the powerpoint alludes to that being a coming feature though.. I think people here should chill out about her not using FreeBSD as the daily driver.. I use FreeBSD daily in my work, but no, I don't on desktop...
netrap··on Why is Vivado 2026.1 dropping Linux support for free tier?
I wonder if they will come to their senses and revert the decision? It does seem a bit boneheaded to drop Linux support on the Basic tier... What actual reason would they need to do that?
