nicogevers··on Removed my file-syncing painpoint
I've been thinking about building a web portal, but don't want it to detract from the peer-to-peer nature.

Not to start a war, I enjoy my Vim setup, because these days there's almost no friction between my thoughts and capturing the output in Vim. I have multiple machines, and for a few years I've been using git and github to sync data.

I also do other things like edit videos, which don't back up well in git.

So I decided to solve this problem, and built a little utility called byteferret. Its a peer-to-peer sync utility, using syncthing under the hood, and has done a great job at syncing folders between my computers.

You can check it out and use it for free. It works on linux and mac.

Let me know what you think, either here or on X.com/gevious

nicogevers··on Ask HN: Where can I buy real software companies?
We've just decided to sell our company. Squire.io give us a shout if it's something you're interested in.
nicogevers··on Manual code review and static code analysis tools
Mostly we use github. Using pull requests is a great way to being able to review code commits.
