niklasbuschmann··on Turn off Apple Intelligence on macOS 27 and get its disk space back
For me, changing Settings > Siri > Language to German freed up the space reserved for Apple intelligence after some time.

niklasbuschmann··on How Many Elementary Particles Are There, Really?
At least for the fermions the answer is a nice power of two for each generation. There is the electron, the neutrino, the red, green and blue up quark and the red, green and blue down quark, giving 8 fermions per generation. Since one can distinguish between particles and antiparticles, one could also argue for 16 fermions per generation. Also one can distinguish between left and right handed particles, giving a total of 32 fermions per generation.

You really believe that skinny people are just more disciplined than obese? I would highly doubt that most skinny people actively try to keep their weight down, it‘s just how they are.

niklasbuschmann··on Gaussian Integration Is Cool
Gaussian integrals are also pretty much the basis of quantum field theory in the path integral formalism, where Isserlis's theorem is the analog to Wick's theorem in the operator formalism.

Many people here were so confident a few days ago that the tariffs were just some 4d chess to get interest rates down, despite this not making any sense.
niklasbuschmann··on US Administration announces 34% tariffs on China, 20% on EU
This is just delusional. Everybody is looking for some reason that makes this less stupid than it looks, but there is none.

Intentionally causing a recession to lower the debt burden makes no sense, neither politically nor economically. Besides that the US is not some third world country that issues debt in a currency they have no sovereignty over.

> Suppose you're on a game show, and you're given the choice of three doors: Behind one door is a car; behind the others, goats. You pick a door, say No. 1, and the host, who knows what's behind the doors, opens another door, say No. 3, which has a goat. He then says to you, "Do you want to pick door No. 2?" Is it to your advantage to switch your choice?

Without additional assumptions this original wording is not clear, it could be that the host always shows a goat, then one should switch, or the host shows something at random and we just look at the cases where he shows a goat, then it doesn't matter.

niklasbuschmann··on Track Lawmakers’ Stock Trading with These Two ETFs
