Le Pen is leading polls and is the polymarket fav by 2-3x.
noeltock··on Ukraine claims first drone evacuation of wounded soldier
It is not anywhere near a daily occurence. Beginning of the war or on the rs side, sure, but it's suicide for a rs helo to come into Ukrainian territory at this point.
noeltock··on Ukraine claims first drone evacuation of wounded soldier
Seems odd to make a purpose-specific drone like this. The modular ones give much larger breadth, especially when you are constrained to being underground, etc.
noeltock··on Ukraine claims first drone evacuation of wounded soldier
Even cheaper if armor is the only goal.

I've never seen a helo anywhere near UA frontlines. Would be over in seconds.
noeltock··on Tell HN: I've been paying for a rural Tanzanian's education for 10 years
Ukraine volunteer here: - Find local charities where you can meet people face to face, and do your own due diligence, this is because: - The best/most tech-starved charities are the ones where they're continously in the trenches of the charities activities (so they won't even be on tech skill matching charity job boards) — and are generally poorly represented online

The nonprofit world is dominated by WordPress, not sure that'll change in the near future.
noeltock··on Memorial to IT Workers Who Have Fallen in Ukraine
Foreigner in/out of kharkiv here, this is a nice project, but also is very ambitious — as the amount of the IT turned volunteer/military is insanely huge. Applaud any project trying to capture even a fragment of Ukraine's civic society.

noeltock··on Marines now have an official drone-fighting handbook
We produce drones in Ukraine, yes, hit-rate is lower, but still worth it given cost.
noeltock··on Ukraine can move beyond its Soviet architectural legacy

nice article, would be nice also... some thoughts

- who finances? everything goes to war, even post-victory, focus will be on replenishing and criticial infra.

- shelters? only a handful of people with kids go to them

noeltock··on BuyMeACoffee silently dropped support for many countries (2024)
Or maybe that's simply their public-facing reason.

Thought it would be more "open"/federated/open-source. Honestly not interested in another platform like this.

noeltock··on Not Lonely at All (2009)
WordPress market share alone (within the open web) speaks to GPL as having been a good or great choice (but not a negative one).

noeltock··on Show HN: Struct – A Feed-Centric Chat Platform
Interesting how we've almost come full circle back to message boards, maybe time for phpbb/vbulletin to reappear? Next-gen will call it "Slow Chat" :)
noeltock··on WordPlate: WordPress on Composer with sensible defaults
Why do you give non-devs the ability to upgrade PHP plugins and edit theme syntax, shouldn't that be the site admin handling? Why are you not using staging to test? These don't seem like WP problems :/
noeltock··on WordPlate: WordPress on Composer with sensible defaults
I think you answered your own question, the familiarity for users (seo & content) which is "end-to-end no-code" is massive (especially once extended with user-facing plugins). And you're not even speaking about making the move to Gutenberg yet. Just too much value there.
