notarget137··on A Remote Employee Refused 160 Webcam Photos a Day. Her Employer Fired Her
When one of my employers did propose that I bought managment cheap baby monitors. The effect was like a ice cold shower.
notarget137··on Nitter: Update Oct 10th seeking funding and legal help
The circle of shite. Honestly though it's how internet worked for decades and big players got big headed about their importance. Importance only goes if there is no viable alternative.
notarget137··on AI to help planes avoid climate-warming 'sky graffiti'
Yeah, let's use a computationally heavy task that contributes to burning coal and gas releasing CO2 into the atmosphere to reduce a slight fraction in emission so we could pat ourselves on the back.
notarget137··on Section 219, the US-Israel Military Merger, Would Thwart American Democracy
And now everybody screams that Putin is bad.
notarget137··on A data center opened next door. Then came the high-pitched whine
Then blame shifts to the little guy being the scape goat. I mean it already happens in corrupt countries.
notarget137··on Why Mathematica does not simplify sinh(arccosh(x))
Well, then sin(x) = x if x is infinitely small
notarget137··on Porn depicting sex between step-relatives set to be banned in the UK
What? So putting your willy in a pig on camera is totally fine while you do it ironically? Why and how would any reasonable human being decide what the purpouse of a photograph of sex with animals is? Have furries been overstepping the law the whole time?
notarget137··on Homeland Security Spying on Reddit Users
And more US police officers die on duty due to more citizens willing to kill law enforcement officers.
notarget137··on ICE protester says her Global Entry was revoked after agent scanned her face
Goverment is corrupt. Solution - more goverment. Give me a brake.
notarget137··on Self-hosting is being enshittified
Not all server executables for video games are avaliable on linux for example. There is a lot of use cases and just saying "you just need X" is somewhat of an ignorant statement. No, I don't.
notarget137··on Self-hosting is being enshittified
Backing up entire VMs with all the configuration in case an update breaks something or just bricks your server is a smart idea aswell as running stuff in containers. Also, 4GB per VM? Besides sometimes you need to run software that is not avaliable on linux.
notarget137··on Russia Bans Roblox
It's baffling for me living in Russia that modern western societies see everything wrong with dictatorship from a goverment but nothing or almost nothing wrong with dictatorship from big capital. E.g. you can't change your break pads unless you go to authorized repair (literal control over your private property and how you use it) and big platforms banning you from multiple public forums because you said a big no-no word (deplatforming and cross-platform restrictions are a thing)
notarget137··on We're losing the war against drug-resistant infections faster than we thought
Sure. But the lubricant they use usually contains antibiotics. Go figure.
notarget137··on Heavy codes of conduct are unnecessary for open source projects
You have demonstrated exactly the point I am making.
notarget137··on Imgur pulls out of UK as data watchdog threatens fine
Does every single website that exists and is available in UK automatically provides services in UK? Isn't it just simpler to completely block every request from UK by default to "not provide services"?
notarget137··on Heavy codes of conduct are unnecessary for open source projects
It baffles me how much political every aspect of life has become. We can't just talk about things and hold genuine discussion. It always boils down to "us vs. them" standpoint.
notarget137··on Heavy codes of conduct are unnecessary for open source projects
It's almost like theese two should not collide in any context from either side...
notarget137··on UK Petition: Do not introduce Digital ID cards
Exceptionally good. Sometimes I even think it's worth it. Need a specific statement or a document - here you have it in PDF in 2 minutes in an android app with somewhat decent usability.

The only saving grace for us is incompetence. Tyrannies breed incopmetence in goverments since competent people are able to ask troubluing questions. At least I hope so.

notarget137··on Apple's homework is due Monday no matter what, says judge
Old goalpost ---> New goalpost.
notarget137··on Another police raid in Germany
The goverment has just revoked your speech license. Please upstain from public talking to more than three people.
notarget137··on Show HN: I accidentally crated a infinite level for a wolf 3D clone
I think it has wrong perspective culling. Seems like the rays are not properly clipped in the view plane so it appears like the view has a "fish eye" effect.
notarget137··on Google rejected me and now I'm building a search engine
Problem solving isn't a binary thing either. You are not just capable of solving problems on the spot or not. Different people have different approaches on the same problem under different conditions. Interview is not one of the things that really shows your problem solving skills rather your skills to solve arbitrary dumb problems right there on the spot.

I've quit several interviews because of these particular questions since they are simply wasting my time and not testing my "skills".

notarget137··on Google rejected me and now I'm building a search engine
I come to the interview to get a real job not to please the smart "gotcha!" recruiter.
notarget137··on Microsoft Recall should make you consider Linux
I think you overestimate how much people don't really care what OS they are using and familiar with. For non-expierienced people Linux will look as exactly the same black box as the previous one. It is bad for intermediate users that are familiar with the system but not enough to be an administrator.
notarget137··on Majority of Americans now use ad blockers
Sounds like advertisement is something that people usually don't want to see or click on. I wonder why?
notarget137··on Linux on the desktop is gaining ground
This is borderline trolling. "Candy Crush Saga" or Netflix is on the right side tabs right at the menu on a fresh install. I did install 22H2 a month ago and saw this atrocity. You are simply mistaken. Also News that I don't really care or wish to see.
notarget137··on Linux on the desktop is gaining ground
Ah, the average Joe that was doing approximately that about 10 years ago on Windows 7 via UI (which linux distros also provide) and wasn't really complaining about it in the process. What changed?
notarget137··on Linux on the desktop is gaining ground
I've been on T14 Gen 3 and E14 Gen 3 for quite some time and hadn't had a single issue you describing. Even running a UHD screen through Type-C and using fingerprint to authorize after powerdown (a thing MacOS and Windows can't really do). Care to share what distro and kernel you are using?
notarget137··on Linux on the desktop is gaining ground
Hey, how about next time I need important updates I will install them manually issuing a simple command like "apt update && apt upgrade" or "pacman -Suy", or whatever else is there? And on top of that reboot my home computer on my own schedule and when I have convenient time to do so. And even gasp not updating my OS with important security updates if I choose so! Bottom line, screw Windows with its updates. Why it is so if I own the hardware and turn it off and on whenever I want I can't do the same with my software?
notarget137··on The KDE desktop gets an overhaul with Plasma 6
My personal KDE looks and operates nothing like Windows and more copies the MacOS workflow (although I am not a Mac user at all). GNOME is not that much customizable and it is the main reason I stick to KDE. Also, quite stable. I do rarely have any issues to be honest and it usually is Latte that has bugs but it is in the state maintaining limbo for a while now.
