When you find your life's work (as I have), you will understand.
Until then, your assumptions that your priorities are more important or valid than his shows your own ignorance, not his.
Meanwhile the older generations are screaming at them "Pay for my medicare and medicaid that won't be there for you! Pay taxes to pay my state funded pension! I don't care that you cant afford a home, or medical care, or college! I don't care that we outsourced your jobs and that you can't make enough money to be poor!"
If this individual is overtrained, his body will find a way to stop him. He will become ill from immune suppression or injured from the constant stress that never fully heals, or too depressed to exercise at all.
Body builders have a saying something like, "Muscles are made in the bedroom and the kitchen."

Introverts have physically different brain organizations and may grasp for words at times. They tend to dislike self promotion -- they perceive it as fake, and also dislike having attention drawn to them. They generally think a lot and say very little. They tend to focus on details quite a bit.
Introversion isn't a single dimensional thing, it's a cluster of dozens of tendencies brought about by this alternate brain organization.

Generally if someone is telling me how great they are, I assume they're not.
If you REALLY REALLY need to take notes during meetings, its the best thing ever. I find in most meetings however, there's probably one or two facts I really need to know. I decided that instead of taking notes I would just stop caring about meetings. I enter those one or two facts into evernote on my phone and I'm done with.
Guy who knows nothing about computers probably has unstable power, or EM radiation causing computer problems.
He imagines a vast conspiracy instead of the obviou.
As for living alone, you can decide if that's best :)
A belief in anything else is irrational.
1 iMac for home, 1 MBA for myself, 1 MBP for the wife, 1 iMac at work (primary work machine), 1 Mac Mini as a build machine at work,
I'm planning on buying another mini as an HTPC as well :) Now, go ahead and ask me how many iPad's I have lol
He insisted on grilling me on a metaphor in my personal statement as if it were literally true. I honestly don't know if he was trying to piss me off, or was (slightly) autistic and didn't understand metaphors. Once I'd gotten him off that, I mentioned I had a friend who worked at Lab 126, which he was also completely uninterested in. When your interviewer isn't interested in the fact that someone you worked with for 5 years works down the hallway from him? You're not getting that job. It was pretty clear a decision had been made against me before the interview ever took place and Amazon was just wasting my time.
Left a bad taste in my mouth.
For things I'm a bit more paranoid about I do postgres/mysql backups at regular intervals, and rsync any data directories to another server.
To me the advantage of the backups is this-- if something awful happens, I can restore 99% of my data in, 60 seconds? Then you're only moments away from a working server if you need to shuttle additional data/sql backups over? So be it.
I was an admin for a UC at one time in my life and there I learned that backups are THE most important part of any job. Being a good admin is like being a father I suppose, you do a lot of shit to protect people that will never be needed or noticed. I got myself out of numerous hopeless situations with a good backup strategy which I tested on a regular basis. PRACTICE YOUR RESTORES. The best example of this was my last day at this particular job-- I had an affection for my colleagues and threw a brand new set of AIT tapes into the backup system, and did a full L0 backup of our 7 sun A1000 arrays. In my mind this was the last thing I'd be able to do for my friends.
I swear to jebus the next morning my phone rang-- it was my replacement. He'd rm -rf'd the entire lab's home directories, decades of research worth millions of dollars-- gone. I told him to look to his left and pray to god the light was green and not red. :)
Austrian economic theory is much more descriptive of reality (although probably not fully descriptive), and yet is cast as voodoo science because if followed correctly there's no opportunity to steal from us through debt and inflation: Government debt is bad, expansionary monetary policy is bad, most economic interventions will lead to unintended consequences worse than the original problem.
When I talk to young economics graduates, many have never even HEARD of Austrian economic theory, let alone studied it in college. At some point in the future, this era will be looked back upon as a dark time in economics in the same way that the medical profession now looks back at seemingly valid theories at the time of "bad humors" causing disease. Our descendents will say "We can't believe those idiots thought they could just print money and spend themselves into debt and there would be no long term consequences."
