ojagodzinski··on Opus 5.5 causing an identity crisis is real
A classic blog post of the "I ran an expensive prompt in Claude, included a table of token usage, and wrapped up with a reflection on how machines once took jobs away from wheelbarrow pushers - yet chess players are still playing after Deep Blue" variety.

waste of time.

ojagodzinski··on eMudhra to exit global SSL/TLS certificate business
> Just admit you messed up and call it a day.

learn about Izzat and Jugaad in their "culture". That explains the problem itself, as well as the reaction ;)

ojagodzinski··on I built Timeframe, our family e-paper dashboard
- pick up phone (unlock done automatically via face/finger/location)

- swipe finger to the right to show weather OR swipe finger to the left to show callendar

Android widgets show me much more information about weather and calendar view than these monitors (and are free: weawow https://weawow.com/i/app-download + google callendar).

ojagodzinski··on I built Timeframe, our family e-paper dashboard
~3000€ to show information in some random places in the house even though the household members have a device with a screen called a smartphone next to them 24/7 ?

Well, it's cool, but the usability of it all is below average.

Declutter your life and don't install any more screens in your home ;)

ojagodzinski··on Tesla is committing automotive suicide
in US? Country built around car-ownership?
ojagodzinski··on Will Smith's concert crowds are real, but AI is blurring the lines
Open an company that sells t-shirts with "AI glitched" text on it so people can make every foto of this kind illegitimate.
ojagodzinski··on Googler... ex-Googler
It scares me that people make a talking point out of it XD what an incredible event, someone got fired!
ojagodzinski··on Stoop Coffee: A simple idea transformed my neighborhood
In countries where people are free (almost everywhere except the USA) you can simply open a coffee shop in a "residential district". You have these ridiculous zoning laws so at most you can drive to a Starbucks.
ojagodzinski··on Is the world becoming uninsurable?
USA != World.
ojagodzinski··on UK bans daytime TV ads for cereals, muffins and burgers
cool but nobody watches TV this days.
ojagodzinski··on WiFi4EU initiative provides free Wi-Fi in public spaces across Europe
But why?

For 7EUR/month I have 30GB of data transfer + unlimited SMS and calls in my my country + ~8GB of data in whole EU, every month. There is no cheaper option. Who needs public Wi-Fi?

EU should increase the competitiveness of communication operators and not finance such stupid ideas. Also map in that app is online only. So you need internet access to get internet access...

ojagodzinski··on The EU regulates that by 2027, all phones be equipped with replaceable batteries
every Samsung Galaxy XCover has IP68 and user replaceable battery.
ojagodzinski··on Spotube: Open-source Spotify-Youtube client
Please explain how is the app that plays music clips from YouTube and hides the ads is "shaking up the system"?
ojagodzinski··on YouTube Begins Blocking Users Who Use Adblock
it is called greed.
ojagodzinski··on An ultra-quiet electric leaf blower
in my city (in Poland) there is a ban on the use of combustion and electric leaf blowers. The aim of the restrictions is to eliminate secondary dust (PM 2.5, PM10) emissions from streets.

ojagodzinski··on Block YouTube ads on AppleTV by decrypting and stripping ads from Profobuf
> If you don't want ads on youtube, just pay the $10 premium fee.

YT premium doesn't actually block the ads that creators put in their videos, SponsorBlock+AdBlock does. Give me the same functionality for 10$ in YT Premium and I will pay.

ojagodzinski··on By 2028 there must be fast chargers every 60 km on the EU’s key motorways
same for gas, no human required on site to fuel a car but "gas stations" exist.
ojagodzinski··on By 2028 there must be fast chargers every 60 km on the EU’s key motorways
This is the reason why for some time no company has undertaken to build travel service points in Poland. Investing in a very expensive charging infrastructure (motorways are often located in places where the nearest power transmission line is far away) does not pay off with contracts signed by the state for a short time.
ojagodzinski··on DJI Drone Rescue Map
Is there also "Killed By Drone Map" available? Russia/Ukraine uses normal commercial drones to drop granades/bombs on top of vehicles.
ojagodzinski··on YouTube is testing a more aggressive approach against ad blockers
> This doesn't really affect me since I subscribe to premium

It does. Premium doesn't skip ads inside videos added by creator, SponsorBlock addon (that probably will be banned) does.

ojagodzinski··on How Spotify's podcast bet went wrong
YouTube + SponsorBlock plugin is better in that regard. Sad that some browser plugin is more user friendly than premium account on Spotify.
ojagodzinski··on How Spotify's podcast bet went wrong
> It gives a unified experience across my phone, laptop, and car

unified? find "new episodes" tab on desktop

ojagodzinski··on It's easier and faster to pirate an e-book, than it is to buy it
In Poland there is no DRM on ebooks. Nobody uses Amazon, there is plenty of e-bookstores that sell them in all 3 formats (PDF, mobi, epub) and You can just download them od send via email form bookstore to device.

ojagodzinski··on FTX fiasco sparks billions of dollars of outflows from exchanges
So you're telling me that all these people exchanges currencies non-stop 24/7? Why can't they have coins in their offline wallet and transfer them to the exchange only before the transaction?

On a similar (sort of) principle, I do not keep 100% savings on the bank account to which my ATM card is attached, I have a separate account where I keep most of my savings and move money between them once a month or when i need to buy something very expensive.

ojagodzinski··on Apple’s iPhone 14 Redesign for Repair
> I’m not sure I care much about repairability. For me, makers should have the freedom to design products as they wish.

No one should have the "right" to create products that turn to garbage when any part of it breaks. A clean planet is more important than "great user experiences". The second thing that they did it only for profit, is ergonomics of new repairable iphone any worse?

Also "software locked" parts should be banned by EU regulators.

ojagodzinski··on Google cracks down on VPN based adblockers
Ok, so using the same logic we should ban all car traffic because someone was raped in a taxi?
ojagodzinski··on Can the Visa-Mastercard duopoly be broken?
No problem in Poland, we have Blik https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blik
ojagodzinski··on Abolish Zoning
And you think that there is nothing between US zoning laws and "industrial factory subsequently next door"?
ojagodzinski··on Germany is closing half of its reactors before the end of the year
> What are the arguments in favor of it, from the point of view of the German politicians and/or activists that are pushing for it?

There isnt any, there is only strong coal lobby, russian propaganda against nuclear and lots of stupid people that use Charnobyl as an argument.
