Yeah king is the wrong word really. Having an unaccountable autocrat is really the problem.

I'd imagine it's because they're distributing it themselves and A24 is a relatively small company.

This is the answer. I have a strong bias towards using the platform but very often you just can't because the platform has weird edge cases or inconsistent behaviour across browsers.

Wind farms are expected to a account for it and it is routinely included in cost calculations.

It's an onion Michael, how much could it cost, $9.41?

Nah, Europe was a happy participant in Iraq 1. The trend from that to Iraq 2 to whatever the hell they're doing in Iran now is really clear.

This has been brewing since George W Bush. Obama made a valiant attempt at normalising relations with Europe but I don't think any future US president has any hope of reversing this now.

Not all of the EU is in schengen, but we do have freedom of movement. Ireland for example is not in Schengen and never will be because of our travel arrangements with the UK.

I really don't think that describes my Mastodon experience. Twitter for people with a conscience would be more accurate.

I mean the Supreme Court made bribery legal in Snyder so it's hard to imagine why anyone would think corruption isn't rampant.

Well I guess this begs the question how do you implement this ban without checking ids?

The argument is that there are parents who are too stupid/lazy to enable parental controls on kids devices and society has a duty to protect kids even if their parents are negligent. Also, kids interact with other kids, so even if you do everything right your kids wind up with access/peer pressure through the kids with bad parents.

I dunno if I agree but I think that's the thrust of it.

One third party, managed by a public contract, seems much better than a parade of third parties for every service you interact with though right?

I think this is a bit of a non sequitur. The government will still be able to throw you in prison in either scenario. They will also be able to compel disclosure of your records in either scenario. So the difference is really just that in the scenario where apple verifies your identity there's an additional actor in the mix over who you have zero influence. It seems strictly worse.

Funny was just testing the pilot of the Irish Government Digital Wallet. Definitely seems like the way forward if we're intent on doing identity verification. I'd rather the government mediate this than a bunch of random 3rd parties.

Who is running the show over at ICANN? How can this possibly be a reasonable thing for a registrar to do?

What always strikes me is that someone, 40,000 years ago, using a pointy stone and some ivory, can make a better looking statuette than I could manage with the best modelling clay and tools available today.

If the lose isn't going to dramatically impact your financial wellbeing then insurance is always an irrational bet.

In Hiberno English HAMES also works

Who exactly is robbing you blind? Could it be your own billionaire class?

The funny thing is I bet ending birthright citizenship is an amendment that could actually be passed. You don't have to be a virulent racist to think the context has changed when you can get almost anywhere in the world in about 24 hours.

(I'm not sure where I stand on it but I can at least see an argument for revisiting the question)

A service like GH will still show a daily usage pattern, often with a peak somewhere around 16:00 UTC when most of the US and Europe are at work.

I don't typically have sympathy for businesses that fail to deliver a service as advertised.

I can have sympathy for the humans caught in the crossfire but only managing one nine of availability on a commercial service is not acceptable.

Publish or perish mentality + difficulty funding a larger study is why this gets published. There's nothing particularly wrong with it as an exploratory study, the big problem is the lack of incentive to try to reproduce the results and publish the inevitable null result.

Scammers of a feather...

I have looked at the stats. In the US the 1% own 31% of the wealth up from 23% in 1990. The 50-90% own 30% of the wealth down from 36% in 1990. The fact that their spending drives the economy is just more ammunition for better wealth redistribution.

Some people, others are capable of being grateful for what they have.

You're point would make a lot more sense if you didn't say the richest people are not the richest people.

Americans are upset about not having any money while being the richest and most powerful country in the world. They are throwing a temper tantrum about a world order they created and are the main beneficiary of.

He fundamentally does not understand non zero sum dynamics.
