Very humbling to see that this was created in high school and without AI.

Side note: it's interesting to see how 'wrote from scratch' or 'hand written' is used in 2026. I've seen it used to mean literally everything, while others might mean they wrote the core of the engine + some SDL sprinkled throughout. And now, it could just mean 'didn't use AI at all'.

My experience with Emacs, 4K and Wayland was so abysmal that I spent a weekend making my config fully compatible with a terminal.

Not ideal, but I'll keep running it through Ghostty until it's fixed.

Yep! http://play-cs.com

Great job. I'd love to see this for the one true sport (cricket).

I've often felt that Emacs is more popular in Japan than I'd expect. Could just be blue car syndrome on my part.

The administration's comms strategy is generally, ah, unconventional.

But this is especially odd given the Dept of War's apparently serious attempt at declassifying UAP files (www.war.gov/UFO/).

Intentionally or not, seems one would undermine the other.

I can't speak for other denominations, but in Catholic philosophy, it's not so much a case of whether it attains consciousness (whatever that may mean now or in the future), but whether it has a soul.

From that perspective, no, machines cannot be baptized, nor can they be Christians, and Jesus cannot save them (because they are not fallen).

Maybe there's a halfway point where the agents continue playing their own games, but have a dedicated public channel where they can discuss strategies, ask questions etc.

In any case, what a great project.

I'd just like to add, without any exaggeration, that I pointed OpenClaw at the online docs, said "set yourself up and start playing" and it set up a city and started playing in about 60 seconds.

OpenClaw is more of a resident AI. It's always running, has access to loads of systems beyond coding (eg email, calendar, browser), and you have many ways to talk to it (like WhatsApp, Signal etc).

It's also an atomic bomb of a security hole waiting to explode.

Yeah, I agree with this sentiment. The boilerplate was oddly helpful when I was starting out.

I have tried and failed to get any LLM to "tell me if you don't have a solution". There may be a way to prompt it, but I've not discovered it. It will always give you a confident answer.

What a nice companion piece to the article. KK is full of good vibes.

The only editors that might meet that criteria are (Neo)Vim and VS Code.

Both Catholics and Orthodox Christians (collectively making up the majority of Christians) would strongly object to this comment.

I wonder if there's a commercial incentive for a news outlet to choose to do this - "we don't hide, never delete articles, preserve history etc..."

Or perhaps just some middle ground between 'we delete, change and hide articles' and 'this link is forever and here's the full diff history'.

Given the negative sentiment around Adobe's cancellation flow, you'd think they'd advertise the fact that you get a 'free year of everything' and 'zero issues'. Seems weird!

Correct. And yet people are still choosing it over Photoshop, and then using the money they saved for avocado toast.

If Adobe can't compete with GIMP-and-avocado, perhaps the product isn't that great.

When I open up GIMP I think of the image manipulation program I'm opening. I think most people do.

And it's also the name of a venerable piece of software that stands for GNU Image Manipulation Program.

This is just a ginned-up non-controversy that should have stayed in 2019.

Google's Twitter feed is responding, I imagine we'll see updates there: https://xcancel.com/madebygoogle/with_replies

I think it's fine to ask a web developer how web pages are served.

If they can talk about network layer protocols, then that tells you something. If the next candidate's understanding stops at knitting libraries together, then that's also notable.

Even if it's not a discriminating factor in hiring, it still helps you flesh out the candidate.

> "If shaming on social media does not work, then tell me what does, because I'm out of ideas."

This is just an incredibly odd thing to say. It's so obviously out of line that it seems like someone's joking around.

The Rust community (generally-speaking) just can't see why people have a visceral reaction against them, independent of its technical qualities. In all my years, I've not seen anything like it.

I often see downvotes when people criticise ST's pricing, but I mostly agree with the detractors - the price always seems to be just a few bucks over the magical limit I'd be willing to pay.

Many of the non-sarcastic responses here are subjective changes (scripting language, core plugins, alternative control schemes) that will change what Emacs is for other people.

But I think we can find a lot of agreement around launch speeds, latency, typography and similar.

"Sakishi is based on Emacs key bindings. There is a very deep and logical reason for this, but for the purposes of this document, I will just state it as my preference."

I genuinely love Emacs people.

Just an astonishing mismanagement of the situation.

I expect a non-trivial amount of game devs (of any political alignment) to at least pause and wonder if this is a good investment.

I agree with this. I suspect it's part of a more general Godot philosophy that involves full in-editor workflows with highly detailed scenes, many nodes, and with small scripts attached to all of them.
