It's been some time since I've done serious work with SQL yet I remember that all paging solutions I've found (eg. top results on SO) are always platform-specific so having a platform-independent way of doing it would mean I could finally try to remember it.
I haven't seen a Tesla interior so when you say "all controls" it's a bit concerning. I'm assuming you're talking only of non-driving related control...
Though I'll concede that having the list for him and not others does point to more attempts...
Raising the price of tuition will mostly impact people from these countries rather than people from other European or American countries.
Especially this part:
>SE rolled out a new Code of Conduct and insisted everyone will respect people's pronouns[1]. Long standing, well respected, polite, moderator Monica Cellio stopped being a moderator in uncertain conditions, but AFAIK she tried to use gender-neutral language when someone's gender was known, and SE steamrollered her for it.
I'd seen Monica Cellio's resignation and the general reaction when SE announced the new CoC and was really weirded out when all the answers to said CoC were of the "but do I _really_ have to use people's pronouns? And what if they post it after/elsewhere? Can I be punished for that?" variety. It looked (to me) like everyone was trying to avoid a weirdly specific case.
Knowing that's what happened to Monica Cellio makes it a lot clearer.
Off-topic but I have to get it off my chest: the years from middle school onwards have the dumbest names in France. They're named by counting backwards to the end of high school. So you start at "sixième" (sixth), go up to "cinquième" (fifth)... all the way to "première" (first), which is the before-last year! The last year is, of course, "terminale" (last, as in 'last in a series'). I'd love to convert to a sane naming scheme.
- Blackberry sales' went up until Nov. 2010 and then it was too late, Apple and Android had the market. Wile E Coyote indeend. - it took ten years from the mobile operators getting the 3G licences before smartphones got really good (and then everybody wanted one).
The parallel with AR and VR seems on point but aren't things faster now?
Especially loved all the links to Facebook :D
> The two major things Twitter needs to solve for are the algorithm of the dashboard (what content shows up in your feed and why) and length of tweets.
Why? I can see a correlation between the noise and the algorithm but the length? Why should it change? It feels like the beef of the analysis is missing.
And the reform was deigned 25 years ago, so there is no link between it and the desire to create a simpler keybord.
I understood it the other way around: the bureaucracy was willing to pay the bill for the closed source options, thinking a large maintenance fee meant fast support. The author, on the other hand, wanted a system that would be more agile, with faster updates, easier maintenance and standards:
"it was horribly inefficient, a maintenance nightmare, not user friendly, and agility was measured in decades.
Our job was to take that mess and fix it. The idea was to build a standard hardware and software platform [...]."
So, as I understand it, easier work for him and his team and indirectly lowering the barrier of entry for future vendors, allowing more competition or a way to fix things themselves. Pretty much the true benefits of open source if you ask me.
Well, that settles that...
Still it's a nice initiative and could be a win-win. Especially with the rising movement of stream-to-play (is it the right name for when you don't install a game, but stream it directly from the cloud?).
I do agree that putting them on the front page would have made a better experience.
